IKEA to return Covid subsidies

    I was surprised to read this but think it's a very morally positive decision. Good for them, may many others follow.

    There must be many many other businesses in a similar boat (received subsidies they didn't need). Most I'd imagine will keep hush about it.

    All businesses in Ireland anyway have to repay the employee wage subsidy if their turnover hasn't been hit hard enough by year end.

    I would hope so my brother in law works for a company and they were closed for 4 weeks and must have got some "essential work" because they opened weeks before any other similar industry around here.

    All the lads are on the Covid subsidy scheme and according to the brother in law the place is busier than it ever was.

    If theses one area of government that works well here it's the Revenue. It may not happen quickly but any money owed to the government by companies will be retrievd.
