Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Gents

I gave my boiler a good servicing the other day.

I litterally took out everything such as the baffle plates and took a lot of dirt out from the inside.

I took off the flu and cleaned it
    I cleaned the condensate trap
    I changed the jet
I cleaned electrodes , photocell etc
Capacitor on pump was gone and changed that.
Tbh she is firing like a dream
    She fires on Kerosene

When she fires and after a small bit the white smoke will appear in a nice quantity..
I hace just noticed a wall not too far from the flue exit now is black

I totally undrtstand its not going to be clean but why is it so smoky.

    What is caising this.
Im wondering is there a combustion issue and would the air intake setting be wrong

    Any help will be apreciated

    Brian

without the proper equipment you cannot service a boiler properly yourself

combustion is out and could be producing dangerous levels of co get somebody with the proper know how and equipment

understand where your coming from brian

but this is an open forum the advise we can give is limited

theres no doubt the combustion is out on your boiler underaired will cause it but if you over compensate on the air damper overairing can cause dangerous levels of co

as for smoke from your boiler there should be zero

sorry but I cant advise any further without overstepping the mark as safety is no1 imho

The black spot is unburned/improperly burned fuel.

Likely related to the jet (all else bring equal).

If the black marks errant there before, then its likely that you've induced the problem.

I'd be getting someone in to perform the service and check the emissions.
    Best of luck.

Brian, if you don't think it's worth paying anyone (as a time served plumber) you should realise the 'cost' of having the right tools.

So to do this yourself, you will need:
    a) a smoke pump
    b) a pressure gauge
    c) a flue gas analyser

HES are a really good supplier, roughly €1.2k should cover it, oh, and the FGA needs yearly calibration (aprox. €150 year on year)

Oh and BTW, the flue isn't directed as per the manufacturer, and the terminal being at low level requires a flue guard.
Tbh she is firing like a dream
    I sincerely doubt that.
