Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sick while on JB/JA

This is all a what if because I'd like to be prepared.

I have to apply for JA. I hope I'm not too long receiving it but who knows with how things are going today.

My question is what happens if I end up sick while claiming JA?

While a week being sick while claiming JA probably won't be too bad, this virus can linger on for weeks. The last thing I want is to be engaging with the social welfare while sick.

I just want to be prepared and don't really know what to do if I end up in this situation.

You are supposed to be capable of, available for and looking for full-time work to qualify for Jobseekers. Strictly speaking you should not claim Jobseekers for periods when you were not capable of work. However, as long as you can show consistent efforts to look for full-time work, nobody is checking to see which days you were sick. It would only be an issue if the illness was prolonged, in which case you should really look to switch to some other payment, eg. Illness Benefit, Disability or Supplementary Welfare Allowance.
