Have a old push Harry lawnmower served me so many years and cuts brilliantly

Started it this morning and engine sounds really lad and it’s on steroids and going to explode
    What are my options here

    A) Bite the bullet and buy a new one
    B) leave running a while and see does it calm down
    C) give it a good service
    Any help be great

Don't leave it running, give it a service and see what's wrong then decide if you need to repair or replace

At a guess the governor is stuck fully open. Take the cowling off and clean all the grass out from underneath. If that doesn't help it might be a return spring on the governor thats broken or missing.

What details can you provide about the engine.

It just sounds like it’s ready to take off, no rattling or anything

Does this look anything like your engine

Plus under the cowl the governor arm linkage can get stuck.
