Combi boiler - hot water on demand?

Hi, as the name suggests, I am new in town, and getting used to the quirks of Irish plumbing.

We have a combi boiler, which doesn't heat the water. To get hot water, we have to run the heating which fills up a hot water cylinder in the hot press (and in doing so, heats the radiators) or switch on an immersion heater.

Is it possible to set up the combi boiler so when we turn on the hot tap, the boiler fires up and we have hot water on demand from the boiler without filling up a hot water cylinder?

Not sure if that's a combi. Why do think it is?

Estate agent blurb when we bought the house - perhaps we should have checked?!

According to Ideal's website it's a standard system boiler. Never believe an estate agent :)

Seems 'combi' is open to interpretation!

Not really. People often get confused between "system" and "combi" boilers.

Btw it's possible to plumb it so that it heats hot water only. Talk to your plumber about it. Also might be a grant
for doing that. Check seai website, but your plumber should know anyway.

The 'S" stands for 'system' so its not a combi
