Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Suckling children is very satisfying in my experience.

Other suckling is not bad either!;)

I nominated Roma but I'm sticking with the elephant crest till the end here.

Nothing majorly clear here except courage of conviction. I'll give a half point. 0.5-0 to Changmai.

    Well ****.

I like both of these, but i suppose ill go for Changmai as the colour combination is deadly, the detailing is deadly and the elephant itself is really well designed.

I also like it doesnt have a (TM) mark.

Description of choice is fantastic. 1.5-0 Changmai

I've never really felt the love for that elephant to be honest. The trunk is like one of those paper cut-outs from primary school, the red swirly things are weird and dammit, the year is wrong (it's 2563 in Thailand - that club is not 546 years old)

So Roma for respecting tradition far better.

The criticism against the elephant design are all well expalined. 1.5-1
    Voting for Chiangmai

The elephant is pretty, the colours work well and the exaggerated nipples on Roma's wolf-with-head-of-a-rhino just look silly to me.

Great clarity with the choices. Says what works and what doesn't. 2.5-1 Changmai

    Roma I Giallorossi
I love the colours, they look majestic.
The symbolism of the birth of the city.
It's iconic...you could never confuse it with another club crest.
Also Totti..... for obvious reasons. ;)

    Really love this. 3 - 2.5
    Chiangmai United

Very fine margins here, both are great. But the wolf's face on the Roma crest isn't very well drawn. The colour scheme and the Elephant's evil eyes on the Chiangmai United crest are both awesome

More brilliant detail. 4-2.5 to Changmai
    Zaph wrote: »
Chiangmai United - I've never liked the Roma crest, I think it's pretty ugly, and I've been surprised by the love for it in this competition. I'd prefer if the Chiangmai crest wasn't predominantly black, but it's still the more aesthetically pleasing of the two imo.

Sound reasoning again. Explains pros and cons. 5-2.5 to Changmai

Roma for the Iconic Romulus and Remus story.
The foundation of modern civilisation is on the badge.

Very well put out. Full Point awarded. Gives a final judge's score of 5-5.

Back to a stalemate!!!! Right, I hate to have to do this but it's down to myself to call it. The Roma one is steeped in history, the wolf may be crudely drawn but it's modeled on a sculpture that looks very like it. The symbolism is a great touch. The Chiangmai one is one that took my fancy the minute I saw it, which was a week ago. The threatening black and white combo does a lot for me but I really like the dangerous red swirls around it, they top it off.

Having said all that, from looking at which I think i the coolest/most bad-ass and therefore best... I'm going with Chiangmai United.

Chiangmai United advance to semi final

    Vasco da Gama

I love the ship, if people complain about graphics in a crest, this will not be one of them.
The use of a black and white crest with the red cross and yellow boat is striking.

    The black on the crest:
In 2010, the away kit changed to black in honor of 1923's team, which gave up playing because they had black players, who were not allowed to play with white players at that time. This was one of the most important steps in the club's history, the fight against racism and discrimination.

    Juarez.

    Demon.Horse.

Cool colour scheme too. Vasco's is nice but a dubious history.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Ill go Juarez for this one. Its probably the most unusual and best colour combination in the tournament. The horse imparts speed and action in its still framed movement. The horses mane and tail coming out over the crest side accents is a nice touch and the little sun icon down the bottom is subtle but cool too.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

FC Juarez - the horse is magnificent, but the best thing about the crest is how vibrant the colours are, which makes it really eye-catching. The little yellow star at the top is a nice contrasting flourish.

I get that the history shouldn't be venerated but that's not why we're here. Looks alone, it's a badass boat and a great crest

The colour scheme on the Juarez one is too jarring for me. Red and green should never be seen. One of the reasons I hate Christmas so much!

But anyway, if vasco are reliant on rhymes to get over the line it won't matter, was my point. Something will STOMP them in a later round anyway.

Polar bear poised on a football for the win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Kapan for me - i loved this the minute i first saw it (and nom'd it).

Its clean and simple - has a deadly animals in it - and if im not mistaken, that key is the key of destiny - that bear is going places. He will save us all.

I love it - and although i dont think it will win overall, i think its the best of the two here. The blue and white outline on the crest with the laurels is pretty class as well.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Gandzasar Kapan - a polar bear with a key in his mouth atop a football, what could be more majestic? Well certainly not a goat, that's for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,478 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Well Macker, no one can assume you of taking the lazy way out of tie breaks! Fair play, even if the wrong one got through :p

Both good crests so I went looking for how they sit on the shirts...

    2018-08-19_BFC_Dynamo_vs._1._FC_K%C3%B6ln_%28DFB-Pokal%29_by_Sandro_Halank%E2%80%93007.jpgHayk_Ishkhanyan_Gandzasar_Kapan_FC_2017.jpg

Vote Koln - it looks better on the shirt, the Kazan one looks a little cheap to me, I can imagine facing a 5-a-side team with a shıt pun in their name wearing that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,139 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

FC Koln. The Goat is a symbol which represents the city and it strides over the Cityscape. The badge represents the place the team plays for which in my book is worth a few points..

Meanwhile there aren't even any polar bears in Armenia unless they are in the zoo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,301 ✭✭✭✭gerrybbadd

Its Gandzasar Kapan for me. Polar bear with the key to victory in his mouth.

Whereas that goat looks like he's about to scuttle the crest. Naaaaah

Except Necro's spite vote should have been allowed and encouraged!

The vote counted perfectly. It was in the tally. Just for tie breakers the reasons need to be a little more related to the crests.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

FYI - while the bear is in the teams colours, its a regular bear and not a polar bear.

Kapan are a mountain team and there are bears in the mountain.
