Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FYI - while the bear is in the teams colours, its a regular bear and not a polar bear.

Kapan are a mountain team and there are bears in the mountain.

So you're saying it's so badly drawn it's not even obvious what it is? :pac:

Koln and the goat get the nod from me in this match up. The Koln crest just jumps out and looks better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Vote Koln - it looks better on the shirt, the Kazan one looks a little cheap to me, I can imagine facing a 5-a-side team with a shıt pun in their name wearing that

I don't care if they pay their graphic designers terribly, they should still pick a good one. Preferably one who knows the difference between polar bears and mountain bears :pac:

Actually, since one butted me in the head when I was 6, I can only see in monochrome, so they all are ;)

    Gandzasar Kapan for me

Translated from Armenian, ‘Gandz-a-sar’ simply means ‘Treasure Mountain’, and the football team of the area are known as ‘The Bears’. These two details go some way to explaining the bear climbing a footballing mountain of sorts on the club badge.

Who said it was a polar bear? If colours don't matter for a green and red horse they hardly matter for a blue and white bear.

I love the mountain, the bear and the colours.
Like I said last night, I don't get the goat.

FC Koln. The Goat is a symbol which represents the city and it strides over the Cityscape. The badge represents the place the team plays for which in my book is worth a few points..

Meanwhile there aren't even any polar bears in Armenia unless they are in the zoo.

The goat does not represent the city actually............

Balls, I missed the first two today and they were close, could have saved a whole load of hastle with the tie breakers. At least the ones I would have voted for went through in the end.

Anyway, I'm going for Koln here, I like the goat and that they've also included by far the most famous building in the city on their crest as well.

    FC Koln

Polar bears be extinct soon! Same should happen to that crest in this game. Koln has great colour and design. Other is bland enough

    FC Koln.

For Hennes IX, the magnificent GOAT that he is.

Köln win and advance to semi finals , while I advance to the kitchen for a cup of tea as I don’t need to do a tie breaker!

Maybe the goat's holding the human captive?

(I'd have voted for the bear. Disappointed I missed the last 3 rounds but at least I missed some heartbreaking decisions)

This is the last quarter final and it’s a cracker. Two former Soviet entities collide but only one can get into the semis. Make your choice now.

Look at him. Look him in the eye and tell him you won't vote for him because you want to vote for a boring grey car behind a badly written letter T

Krumkachy Minsk, there’s much more danger in that crest than the torpedo one, and given that it’s a crow versus a f**king torpedo, that’s some achievement IMO. And it’s my nomination, so I’ll stick by it till the end.

Torpedo Moscow. The torpedo car, the gear, the T. Crow FC doesn't bring the same joy.

Hennes and Koln for the tournament though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Really like that Minsk crest, pure evil but in a way that somehow makes it likeable. Torpedo is a decent effort too, but lacks colour. Minsk gets my vote.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Minsk is great, but Torpedo Moscow is the perfect example of Soviet functionality over aesthetics. The club's origins as the club of the ZIL car factory can clearly be seen with the large gear wheel in the background. But it's a club that aspires to more than mere functionality, as evidenced by the sleek, futuristic, some might say western bourgeoisie-style car. It's a team that has had a relatively humble existence, but it deserves so much more, such as a place in the semi-finals of this competition.

I really like that angry crow. Krumkachy please.

I wonder what "HØK" means? Is it meant to be the sound the crow makes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,139 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

Minsk, the bird is pure evil looking and that makes it stand out.
The Badge also looks more Soviet than it's Russian Counterpart which is a plus in my eyes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Feck it ill go Torpedo. Its a unique design, there is good detailing; and that crow is a scumbag. He stole a fiver off me several years ago.

Minsk's old logo (2011-2019) is nearly even better again

The other name of the team is NFK Minsk.

Нфк is simply the letters NFK in Belarusian Cyrillic.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Well, in any Cyrillic script.

    FK = Futbol Klub.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Sorry - a vote. I'm torn on these two - though I guess that should happen at the quarter-final stage.

The Torpedo crest is unique and is ideal to the club. Yet Minsk not only has a nasty-looking raven on the club, the club is called Ravens. And it was only formed in 2011.

So I can picture these guys looking out the window at a typically nasty Belarusian raven and getting the inspiration for the crest, and then deciding to go the whole hog and name the whole club after it. Edgar Allen Poe would be proud!

    So Minsk, just about.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,508 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

    Think it's Russian for hawk.

    It's NFK, their previous name.

Minsk play in the Belarusian league which was possibly the only half-decent sports League on the planet to laugh in the face of the Corona Virus, before challenging it to a fight. The judges scored that
    COVID 19 : Corvids 20

I will therefore pick the crows over the car, but I suspect I've missed the cutoff.
