Whoever comes up with things like this has no classroom experience.
Firstly the kids missed 3 months of face to face learning, it's hardly the end of the world, they do not need 6 day weeks to catch up, they barely survive the 5 day weeks as it is and the disadvantaged students will be pushed further behind by this.
I would have no problem offering some extra evening classes to help the 6th year kids catch up if they need it as im sure other teachers would do the same, it already happens in allot of schools.
The mocks give them a kick up the backside and encourage them to do a good deal of cramming and studying easing the workload on them for the real thing, removing mocks leaves the kids at a higher disadvantage.

Part of the problem with so many news sources these days is that they have to fill pages etc. For education news best to leave it to the ASTI. Otherwise you are click bait to every moronic idea out there
