Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1. We’re doing our best to conserve water but my neighbour has been power washing their driveway for the last few days. Any advice?

    We thank you for your continued effort to conserve water. Would you mind sending us a PM with the following details:

    - Your name;
    - Contact number;
    - Address;
    - Excessive users name; &
    - Excessive users address

    2. Can you advise what to do about manholes placed by builder in the back garden? Can they be moved?

    If you have an Irish Water asset on your site, we would advise that you email the details of your query and the approximate location of our asset to diversions@water.ie. For more information concerning the diversion or alteration of Irish Water assets, please see here.

    If these manholes are part of a shared private network, this would be a private matter between yourself and your neighbours.

    3. I cannot move into my new home until Irish Water complete a new connection to the mains. Can you please advise?

    If your name is on this application, we can check the progress of this for you. If this is the case, please provide the following details via PM and a member of our team will help.

    - Your full name;
    - Your full address;
    - Your contact number; &
    - Your new connection reference number

    If the developer made the application and your name is not on it, we would recommend that you contact the developer to request an update concerning this application.

    4. Can a pressure washer business wash the house via a hosepipe? Can disabled people use a hosepipe to water their greenhouse as they can’t carry a watering can?

    Yes. If a business involves power-washing patios/buildings, then the Order does not currently prohibit that use. The use of a hosepipe is prohibited for watering a garden and other non essential uses. You can read the full Water Conservation order here. Gardens can be watered using a handheld container, bucket or similar.

    5. There is a public main running through a house which I have purchased, and I want to extend my property. Is this permitted?

    Sewer and drainage connections fall under the remit of the individual landowner and may be moved in line with building regulations. However, the exception to this rule is if there is a public main running through the property under the remit of Irish Water. You should have a Way Leave Agreement and the relevant documentation should have been received along with the deed of the property. Queries in relation to the diversions of public mains on private property can be directed to diversions@water.ie and our Diversions Team will be able to assist you further
