    Hi all,
I know that the jobseekers allowance is means tested and that Jobseekers benefit is not.
They seem to use the same form to apply,UP1.
Does means test info like savings etc need to be filled out even though there is 9 months of benefit available if you meet the criteria?
Or can this info be left blank until you hit the jobseekers allowance situation when the benefit has run out and then it has to be filled in?

There's a separate form for the means test that has to be completed when applying for Jobseekers Allowance called UP1b.

    Hi Mystic,

According to the below it does ask.
    Any idea why?

    https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_benefit.html#ld1a9a

You should apply for Jobseeker's Benefit the first day you become unemployed.

More information is available in our document about signing on for the first time.

If you think you have been wrongly refused Jobseeker's Benefit you can appeal the decision.

    Online applications

You can apply for Jobseekers Benefit online at mywelfare.ie. When you log in, you will be asked for some personal and financial information, as well as details of your employment, training or education history. You will also be asked to upload or post any supporting documents that are needed.

I don't know what specific query you have. I would assume you need to provide bank details for payment if your question is about providing financial information.

The above document sets out the documentation you need to apply for Jobseekers Benefit and it is indeed very comprehensive and includes details of any income for yourself and for a partner/spouse if applicable.
