Happy with that team, plenty of quality on the bench too.

Am I right in thinking Chong and Gomes have yet to feature even with the expanded bench?

Utterly uninteresting line up. No pace.

would prefer either of these instead of lingard

Dalot lingard shaw are fast. Good to give others players a break

ugh Lingard starting. I really have no time for him in a UTD shirt

These reactions are part of the problem. He is a fine squad option and covers loads of positions. Pedro got plenty of games for the best club team ever despite not being anything special because he worked for the team and knew his role.

Lingard has been woefully out of form but he's not become a terrible player overnight. The negativity and vitriol from his own team's fans is ridiculous.

At this stage I would think Chong and Gomes have no future at the club. For 2 players who were supposed to be highly rated neither has gotten much of a look in.

Is there still talk of Gomes getting a new deal?

Too many changes for my liking and of anyone was to be rested I'd like it to be our star player Bruno.

Serious lack of pace in the team. Hopefully enough to win the game.

I understand there needs to be rotation but I'm sceptical about changing nearly the whole team out, from a one off perspective as well as momentum.

With 5 subs available you'd think Ole is hoping they can get it wrapped up without risking too any but in case it's not going as expected has the option to bring on first teamers.

He is not good enough to be a squad player and I would much prefer to see one of the kids in for him.

Pedro is a far superior player than lingard.

So we as fans should be positive about a player who has not performed for at least 18 months?

Lingard is not an inspiring choice based on where he was before the break.

Hopefully the break has actually helped him recover to where he was contributing and had confidence. To me this is the most suitable game to give him a chance as he could well be needed in games to come due to rotation or injuries.

    Can we not have both?

We have lots of CBs but most of them aren't good enough. We need quality not quantity.
Could sell 4 of them and they wouldn't be missed.

If a good option is available at CB and they improve the first 11 then id hope United are in the market.

Ideally I'd like to see a RW,CM and CB bought this summer with about 6 players leaving the club .

I don't think Utd are in a position to spend huge amounts of money on a position where they aren't dreadful in. RW is going to take all their transfer money this window unless of course they can offload Jones, Perriera, Rojo, Sanchez, Smalling. They can't sustain paying mediocre players to sit in the stands or part pay them to play elsewhere

He has become a poor player over about 12 months actually

I would love to see Lingard bang in a hat trick today solely for some suckers coming into bid for him when the transfer window opens.

Good to see fosu mensah back on the bench

I've absolutely no problem if he scores. Be delighted in fact.

But that is not going to change my opinion on him no longer being good enough to play for Man Utd

I seem to remember him putting in some great performances against Spurs and City earlier in the season...

    Almost brilliant lingard

Ighalo is a quality back up player.

Norwich getting some joy down our right side

Jenas is really hard to listen to

  • Lingard is a liability

Lack of quality from both sides so far. Poor game

Will this go to extra time or pens if 0.0?

The piped in crowd noise on bbc is horribly distracting and out of tune with what's going on in play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,302 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Ighalo is a decent player. I like what I’ve seen from him every time he plays.

Too many similar players in this side. Lingard Bruno and mata all looking for the same space. Feels like the bench will have to win this for us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,432 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Thank god Bruno is playing. Just turned it on 10 minutes and he already a joy to watch

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭KH25

    Mata looks off the pace.

The difference between tonight and Wednesday is startling.

B team is so much poorer than the A team.

United look quite open defensively, worrying any time Noriwch on the attack.

Really don't have any depth in the squad, alot of very very ordinary players out there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

I would of rather seen James left wing and Chong right wing.

Mata is past it and Lingard never had it. Infuriating watching both start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,432 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Where is **** was the CBs there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,576 ✭✭✭deaddonkey15

Good pace by Shaw to get back there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,341 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Is Gomes gone then? Got no look in from Ole (rightly or wrongly), not on the bench today and contract expires in a few days.

Good pace by Shaw to get back there.

He's a flyer really. Big hole left in the centre though.

In fairness, thats why it is the B team

  • Running your attack through Lingard produces this type of threat

    Sweet **** all so far

  • Registered Users Posts: 862 ✭✭✭unplayable

Mata and lingard will never break into this team. Look at what wolves are doing. Why can’t we have 18-20 players max and just play regularly together. These 29 man squads are pointless. Pogba needs minutes. Greenwood doesn’t need to be rested it’s nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,341 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Is there 5 subs in the FA Cup also?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,302 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

The problem is mostly down to players playing out of position. Mata is not a right winger. Lingard is not a left. He’s not even playing from there I don’t think. Whole middle of the pitch is congested.

Fred not playing well so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,205 ✭✭✭Lucas Hood

    This is poor .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,432 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

What’s point in Lingard. It’s like playing with 10 men

    Dalot.....

Needs to be shown the door along with a few others

True but you need hungry players to drive the first teamers on.

Some of the players in the first team are literally fighting for their United career and it's still so lethargic and just well, shít.

Fred is way off it, Lingard and Mata have been poor. Dalot looks threatening but also gave the ball away for when Shaw made a good run back. Shaw is not a title winning left back.

    It's all meh against Norwich.

Theres plenty of players playing far worse than him today. Mata and Fred both been poor. He’s an easy target though it seems.

Greenwood needs to brought on at HT.
