The school governors suspended Wood after a complaint that she made “potentially disparaging comments” about her staff.
UK society has now arrived at a point when "potentially" is enough to get you suspended.

Seems a bit harsh no? Like every profession, I'm sure some put in more effort than others, but to suspend someone who called out those who weren't pulling their weight?

Actually I have had two friends who went to the UK to teach ..they are back here now. But they would conquer that people working in education there are lazy. And often under qualified.

Ha one of them almost did.

They had never heard of someone with a PHD teaching in a secondary school before and wanted to make him head of department. However he wanted to leave the next year and come back here.

He hated teaching there. He was really frustrated with how schools were run. And yes he thought the teachers were lazy. Most only teach one subject and have way fewer hrs over there. They also do less paper work (which is not a bad thing). He felt his colleagues didn't plan lessons well. Or used the same lessons for years over and over.

Also he felt kids were spoon fed a lot. He was supposed to provide pens pencils and paper...PENCILS for the kids every kid ...every day just incase. And of course if you provide one they lose it so you just give them another. This was because 'some families can't afford pencils'. A PENCIL. They give them everything books etc.

In the school he was teaching a lot of kids from abroad just moved there had better English than some of the English kids.

The benefit of being surrounded by mediocrity though is you rise to the top. But he couldn't wait to get home though.

    He teaches here now.

England sounds like a mess to be a teacher tbf. Pay levels are much lower too I think.

is that not a case of working smarter, not harder? if the curriculum stays the same, why would the lessons change?

Teachers in the U.K earn their money. No bombing out the door to be on the first tee for 3.30

If you can find any Irish teacher who is out the door at 3.30, please put their details up here. If not, stop talking ****e. Every secondary school teacher (i'm married to one) teaches at least two subjects, shares yard duty, works after hours on school work and for every hour at the board or desk, puts in the same again that you don't see. They constantly have to deal with social issues like the above mentioned lack of pencils at home (poverty), school-related issues like bullying, home related issues like domestic abuse affecting children, alcoholism, sexual and physical assault, theft, racism, drugs and are routinely in touch with agencies like Tusla and the Gardai. Principals and Deputy principals routinely pay for the aforementioned pencils out of their own pocket,as well as for lunches, items of school clothing and other things like transport costs (kids whose parents wont pay for bus fare). It would do you the world of good to have a chat with a Principal, off the record, and find out what really goes on in Irish schools. It might open your eyes. Apart from that, Irish teachers tend to have a degree as a basic, then a H.Dip in Education and quite a few have Masters on top of that. The "3 months holidays" are also a myth, as teachers don't stop when the holidays start and are always in before the holidays end.

Well the British would rather scour social media for mean tweets than do actual police work. You see them when they were face to face with that mob. They ran away pissing their pants in fear.

Britain has gone so bat**** insane I'm actually surprised that the Headteacher wasn't arrested and charged with hate speech.
