Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Immersion Heater Temperature Question

    The hot water from the immersion is too hot. I want to turn down the temperature. I attach a photo of the top of the unit.
    If I open the nut and remove the silver casing, will I be able to adjust the temperature?
    I am familiar with electricity and will of course have the supply switched off.

    Why are you running it for so long.

    Just turn it off earlier....

    You can turn it down. Just have to be careful about legionnaires disease. You'll have to keep the temp in the cylinder above 50 Celsius.

    Thanks, it's only on for one hour every twelve hours.
    Sounds like I'll find an adjustable thermostat under that silver casing? Right?
    What's a typical temp? At the minute it's too hot to wash your hands.

    it should be 60/65 and will be too hot for hand washing without cold

    I'm fairly sure that the couple of immersion heaters I've replaced recently had thermostats with a sticker on them covering over the screw adjuster that said something like "Preset 60°C". Think we found that a little low but then discovered that changing them just a little made a massive change to water temperature so I needed to try a few other minor changes to get the temperature that we wanted.
