Hi, Would appreciate some advice on whether it's worthwhile to renew health insurance as we slowly come out of lockdown. I'm 45, male, and only have the basic cover but with uncertainity in my place of employment and limited finances, plus the possible though unguaranteed arrival of Slaintecare, is there any point in renewing health insurance going forward?

The main benefit for you in having medical insurance is that you can get quick access to a private consultant and treatment in a private hospital for elective surgery. Without insurance, you go into the queue in the public system.

What are you expecting Slaintecare to deliver specifically for you?
