Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes, my point is that an unenforced requirement for restriction of movement (which explicitly allows for outdoor exercise and shopping anyway) is not enough of a deterrent to make any difference between the two lists. Perhaps the announcement will be accompanied by a tightening of the rules for arrivals from non green list countries

...but you could say that about any of the current restrictions?

21% of cases in last 2 weeks were travel related so around 50 I think

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,302 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Would be nice to know why 270 cases were reported recently when the actual case numbers were 211.

When did the 59 cases occur and why are they only being reported now.

As has been pointed out for the last week and a half on here, there was quite clearly a discrepancy between tests and reported cases which was flagged most evenings

270 cases in last two weeks, median age 34 years.
    115 male, 154 female.
    83 healthcare workers.
149 in Dublin, 28 in Kildare, 15 in Cork.
    78 cases across 17 counties.
    11 total cases in hospitals.

Is that definitely 11 including icu??

    Situation positive all the same

RTE go live to the dept of health, reporting 270 cases in the last 14 days which we now know isn't correct, it was 211 in the last 14 days.
Secondly saying Glynn saying today is a lag, sorry but what around 18k tests in 2 days does not show a decrease in testing over the weekend.

No wonder 75% think there's going to be a second wave

What are they seeing in the models that seemed to spark such fear and the push out of pub openings. It doesn’t seem a large spike since we opened more stuff the last few weeks. Hospital numbers looking good too.

    I see that:

Dr Glynn added: "We are now seeing outbreaks of the virus in a range of work settings, including in construction, in fast food outlets and in supermarkets. I would remind all employers that the workplace and most particularly, shops, services and supermarkets, are the new front line, we are asking you to do everything you can to put the safety of your staff and customers first. With the increase in outbreaks in our communities, I would urge everyone to wear face coverings in healthcare settings and when shopping, including in the supermarket and other indoor retail services."

In case we didn't catch it the first or second time, his use of the word supermarket for the third time suggests that it appears to be spreading now in supermarkets more than it used to in the last few months? What's going on here - were there supermarket clusters in last few days?

How many times does it have to be said that we don't have a weekend lag? There were nearly 9000 tests conducted yesterday.

There are some posters who only use the thread infrequently and don't immerse themselves in Covid news 24/7.

I just joined boards.ie a few days ago, a long time lurker, and it seems you treat this thread as some sort of personal fiefdom.

Yesterday I made a comment that I wear masks in indoor settings but feel faint and uncomfortable.

You posted a general post to the effect that.. are there posters seriously saying masks are unhelpful, that you had asthma and they didn't annoy you..

I have a respiratory illness and find them really heavy going for long periods of time, especially in my work environment. There's varying degrees of respiratory illness. As individuals we are free to post how masks make us feel etc. At no time did I suggest wearing masks wasn't helpful in the overall prevention of Covid.

It would be helpful if you left your bullying attitude offline. People have varying degrees of knowledge on Covid. Some haven't the time to be online constantly or haven't the desire.

I'm beginning to think they stored the cases to stop the pubs opening

59 cases or 22% is a hell of a descreptancy

Oh I'm hoping for the same numbers tomorrow. Holohan did say it a few of the Mondays and that I guess is where it started from. Also Monday UK numbers can be lower so we've this idea that ours will automatically go up a good bit tomorrow.

It's classic PR. People have been saying that the supermarkets have been safe, so why wear masks in the supermarket. So push the supermarket angle.

The only thing that actually reduces over the weekend is the number of swabs taken, which makes sense clearly as people don't want to be taking swabs at the weekends :D The HSE daily testing update shows that actual lab testing is at it's lowest Tuesday and Wednesday and gradually increases up to Mondays before dropping.

Do they really need to meet up drunk in large groups, 5 or 6 in an open space like a park, distancing, everyone has a responsibility to act accordingly, to stay safe

That Dublin construction outbreak has over 20 cases.

Just surprised it hasn't happened sooner. Nature of the work means social distancing in practice very difficult.

Avid reader here, saw nothing bullying in any post, seriously, people will read in to things far too easily these days!

To someone asking about where did this 'lag' idea come from. Think it was to do with deaths and Tuesdays number would usually be higher due to reporting at weekends.
