Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That still sounds like a lot floating around in the community though?

Not criticising you personally, but this response is indicative of a complete lack of perspective by a lot of people - that is a phenomenally small number in a country that size.
There seems to be an expectation of getting to 0 by itself - this is not going to happen, seeing new case numbers like 137 in beyond miniscule.

If diagnosis numbers of other illness were announced daily many people's heads would combust.

Still following a downward trend on their 7-day avg and following a reducing pattern looking at previous Tuesdays.

It's not 5G compatible so you don't have any chance of getting the virus.

7 day average is 12 cases per day. Only 1 death in the last three days.

Agreed. People need to realise it'll be years before we get to zero on this. Low daily cases is all we can hope for. Even with a vaccine.

Might be over a few days

Things like nursing homes being retested or healthcare workers can have an impact

Also maybe more related to outbreak in kilworth barracks

I argue that less than 26 cases per day is a win. Less than 1 case per county.

All the app fans, will you self-isolate for 14 days if you get an exposure alert (i.e. the point of the app?)

Reading the article made it sound like the daughter went to the church on her own - mothers behaviour afterwards is shocking by our standards - but if she is living in a Trump/Fox News echo chamber / bubble then understandable.

The "de notified cases" thing is very misunderstood. Unless I'm getting this very wrong, but this was how it was explained to be by a HSE worker friend:

Those 17 cases could have happened anytime in the last 3 months and then been de-notified

They have absolutely nothing to do with today's 24 cases

Hello to all by the way. Haven't posted here before. Re: previous question, I was wondering when we would get the breakdown as regards setting because next press conference isn't until Thursday. To be honest, I'm not sure the Monday/Thursday arrangement is the optimum one. Ronan Glynn said yesterday that weekend tests might not show up until Tuesday. Tuesday/Friday might be a better arrangement so.

Have one question. We've done well and are continuing to do so. I know it's a bit of a 'what are the lotto numbers' question but what do posters think is the likelihood of a second wave later in the year?

As far as I can tell about 75% of tests being conducted rn are in nursing homes/residential care facilities, I reckon you could assume that most if not all of the cases being registered rn are to do with the mass testing with maybe the odd travel/close contact case.

I personally believe that, with the sophistication of our contact tracing system and our mass testing programmes, a second wave is not inevitable.

Well in my opinion, it's inevitable.

The virus is still there and we have a population pretty much unexposed to it thanks to our lockdown, so once we back to normal what will make it any different than back in early March?

Almost all countries coming out of lockdown are seeing a resurgence.

Ok. Would we be better prepared than March re. social distancing and hopefully more will be wearing masks. I understand what you're saying.

TBH I've a bit to read up on the contact tracing app. Better download it first..
