Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I find rhubarb too tough and stringy.
Next year I vow to make my own elderflower presse. We have an abundance of elderflower on our hedges in this area.

Me mam's apple crumble, few sultanas in there, cinnamon and nutmeg with a buttery crumbly top. Never made anything better myself..

Oh gooseberries, my jaysis paws after picking AND THEN topping and tailing the pesky buggers, great jam though

I actually wouldn't put anything bar apples in it. I think the bitterness of the apples with the really crumbly pastry does the talking for itself. I like the edges a teensey bit burnt too.
    I'm hungry now :(

Bedside after a lovely, relaxing, doing nothing weekend. Need one of these every so often.
The cat still hasn't come in but was too tired to wait up for him. Presume he got a better offer for lodgings tonight.

Sil next door makes elderflower cordial, it's lovely, is that the same thing as presse?
If you reply and I don't respond, I'm glitched out again :pac:

I think the cordial is more concentrate.
I absolutely love elderflower. It's my go to drink, which isn't bad I guess because it could be sugary drinks.
Every time you mention your Sil next door, I think for a minute of an old gentleman called Sil and I think you're talking about him :D

My partners sister makes it as well and it's absolutely unreal. She's makes a ginger one too and that's even more gorgeous. To answer your question Purple Mountain, I was inspired to make them because that same sister gave us a load of apples but Mam's always making me hungry with her food descriptions. It's like an m&s ad in here some days. If I'm not craving toast and honey, I'm wanting some crumble and if it's not that it's onion rings!

    Grem, you're a big weirdo :)
I think it's time for bed now and get off looking at celebs on Instagram.
I raised this in a Covid thread but there still seems to be a hopping social life going on in London by some celebs. Maybe they're within guidelines, but they seem to be bumping and grinding like it's 2019.
That and all the Covid pregnancy announcements by celebs. There was definitely more bedroom workouts going on during lock down.
There definitely seems to be more bumps around when you go out shopping etc. Good news for a change!
    Anyway, night peeps.

Sure knows, anyway it’ll be grand.

I live in England and I came home and quarantined. I've been here for three weeks now and didn't leave the house for the first two so please don't assume people coming into Ireland are all idiots who don't give a sh1t. This attitude drives me insane. I purposely stayed away until now but I'm sure you'll appreciate that not seeing any family or friends in 7 months is quite difficult.

    Ne'er an apple turnover left.

Anyone know what the bright flashing light in the sky is? Off in a roughly southern direction. Maybe I'll get probed ... :p

Effective tomorrow, I’m legally permitted to fly out/in to this country. Need a PCR test and to register on their tracking APP.

Yet for some strange reason, I have absolutely no interest in going anywhere :)

Been blowing a loud gale all night out here in the Atlantic... first of the autumnal gales.

As for bread. The white stuff they sent by mistake made me ill and reading the label.... So many toxic additiives.. So, deep breath and financial jugglings, I need to order a basic breadmaker … I have flour etc..

Idea abandoned; I had no idea of the cost of those things. Ay me! So out of touch!

Why not soda bread.. So easy to make and no kneading. Add as many seeds or nuts, fruit you want to the basic recipie. Bextartar and breadsoda work with fresh milk.

No waiting for proving, ordinary flour, no noise from those machines.

Or griddle bread, made in a frying pan. My grandaunt started making it when her oven broke when she was 94. Made it every day for 4 years. Gas on low and she would sit near the hob knitting so she could turn it over now and again without getting up. It's about 35 years since she passed away, but I can still remember the crusty, buttery griddle bread hot from the pan every morning.

I don't like it either but you cannot control other people. You can only look after yourself. This is meant to be a light hearted thread and sniping posts judging other people or their family are pointless.

And to get back on topic, I am couch side about to have breakfast.

Coffee number two of the day.

I'd swear there is a motivation drainer installed in this chair.

Was all set to get stuck into work when I was making the coffee, plonk the butt in the chair & it's all gone.

Workside, happy to report no gentlemen came in my utility window last night. Just the cat who was happily ensconced in his bed this morning.

Very excited to hear that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck may be in my work vicinity to shoot a movie at Cahir Castle.

I used to have to do a lot of driving and have a soft spot for Cahir ( actually had a couple of customers in the town ). After it was bypassed I used to make a point of going the old road thru it even if I didnt have to do a stop there. Its more than 10 years since then. Has the town changed much ?

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!
