Thatchell is an LGBT rights activist that had a huge impact on the movement, so I don't think it is wrong to call him hero perse, even if he had questionable views and relationships with dodgy people.

Also, the age of consent is 14 and below in other European countries, including Italy, France and Portugal. I wouldn't call those places paedo paradises.

He did not simply have questionable views. He wrote the obituary in the Guardian for Ian Campbell Dunn who was co founder of the Paedophile Infornation Exchange which advocated for abolition of ANY age of consent. Many of its members including Dunn served prison sentences for molesting children and / or possession of child abuse images. None of which Tatchell mentioned when he bigged him up in his obit.

If Roderic was straight, gay, man, woman or green skinned martian his praise for Tatchell and excitement to be with him would be worthy of a raised eyebrow and sober query. It is not phobic, it is due diligence.
