Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dallas have pulled out of the MLS is Back.

This is an account from one of players in the competition. Has provided alot of inside info. This sounds disgraceful that it is going ahead and extremely unfair on the players

Problems in Lori FC in the Armenian Premier League

    Official announcement
In fact, it turns out that 8 players of "Lori" starting team were infected with COVID-19 at the 27th round of the RA Championship. The answers to the tests are shown.

So Lori footballers entered the game with their opponent in unequal competitive conditions and the principle of "Fair game" was violated. During the break, some of the football players had a strong headache and heartbreaking, as a result of which the key two footballers were forced to replace. In the second half of the team the state and the final result caused us all of us.
No matter how much " Lori " maintained all the epidemic rules, however, COVID-19 invaded our " semi-field " and not the opponent, but the epidemic decided which team will represent Armenia at the qualification stage of the European League qualification stage.
In an unprecedented situation, we suggest to organize a wide discussion to all football stakeholders and make offers to restore the unequal competitive conditions due to COVID-19

Not down yet. Match is yet to be played. Had elche or vallecano not got a result today, they could've just rolled over for deportivo and still stayed in playoffs. Now both need a win to either survive or go to playoff

Depor are down. They're 3 points behind Ponferradina and lost the head to head against them during the season.

Not necessarily. If the players are quarantined and no other players test positive then there are no issues. Players tested positive before the return as well without affecting the rest of their teammates.

That seems like a bit of a stretch. That game is still 5 weeks away. Way too early to be saying that it could affect the Ireland game. But corona linked news sell papers these days.

2 positive tests at Aberdeen now and a further 6 players self-isolating.
Their game against St Johnstone called off.
All 8 went to the same Aberdeen bar after their game last weekend (which may not necessarily be the cause obviously) which has raised eyebrows at government level.

Neil Lennon was excellent in his press conference looking at the quotes. Said he couldn't disagree with FM, and apologised to the rest of the league. No messing, think Bolingoli will be kicking his heels on the bench for a while if they don't sack him. Not going to pretend I have any idea if he's any good, that might help them decide if they keep him it let him go.

It's one of nine players not involved in the senior squad who returned to begin preseason training. It has no relevance to the senior squad or the CL game. And please use a source other than the sun.

    https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11945/12048047/coronavirus-linfield-handed-champions-league-walkover-after-fc-drita-positive-tests

UEFA initially postponed the tie, but have since awarded Linfield a 3-0 win for the match with the whole FC Drita squad put into quarantine.
"In view of the whole team of FC Drita being put into quarantine after a second player of this team had tested positive for Covid-19, the UEFA Champions League preliminary round match could not be played," a UEFA statement read.

"Given the urgent circumstances of the matter, the chairman of the control, ethics and disciplinary body referred the case to the appeals body.

"The chairman of the UEFA appeals body today declared the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League preliminary round match between FC Drita and Linfield FC forfeited by FC Drita, who is therefore deemed to have lost the match 3-0."

i wonder is this now Uefa standard protocol, if a squad has to go into quarantine they are awarded a 3-0 loss?

Yes this was all outlined last week. The same if they cannot find a safe host country to play a game in. If you say we can't play at home but we can play in Hungary for example. Then Hungary suddenly go into Lockdown before the match, that's game over, 3-0.

Whats worrying is that I think teams may hide their positive results to be able to play in a European Game and collect the lucrative UEFA Cash.

If we thought last season was a shambles, this one coming is going to be a disaster. This is where the Null and Voids will really be an option

France isn't under time pressure like the rest of the leagues, and they've already scrapped their league cup, so they've plenty of space in the calendar to play these games. Their rule is 1-3 positive cases and the match goes ahead. 4+ cases and the match is postponed.

Would ease off knee jerk reactions. Back in March football would never be played again according to some. Leagues should be ok. The Premier League and Bundesliga proved it can be done with proper protocols in place. Theirs a blueprint for major leagues to follow.

Have the PL come up with some options for what happens if it can't be completed or will they just wing it like before? I could live with current champions being crowned again, they have to win it back off us.

I'm not sure 10 league games in 5 weeks within a bubble in each country is that great a guide.
A full season gives a lot of extra complications. 7 teams in each country will be going off on 3 CL/Europa away trips to some far flung destinations in countries that aren't 'major league'. There'll be away trips in the cups to 4th tier and non-league teams. There'll be 4 international breaks between now and Christmas with players going to Africa, Central America and South America.
So the successful blueprint is potentially under great strain.

I'm still hopeful it will all be OK though.

I believe they said once they pass the half-way point, a winner would be crowned one way or another anyway. Haven't said how though. Think a lot will depend on the circumstances, how far into the season they get etc. If they only made it to 21 games, for instance, maybe it makes sense to roll back to 19, when everyone had played each other once. But that probably shouldn't apply if they get to 30.
