New Pump - quote reasonable?

    Hi folks,

Had issues with water pressure in the house so called a plumber.
He says the pump is dodgy, and he fitted a test pump to check and that solved the problem. Old pump was making a lot of noise.

He says a new pump would be around €400, and a recommissioned pump would be around €200. Issue with the new pump would be that some pipes would have to be changed.

I just want to ask if that sounds like a reasonable quote? Haven't paid him anything yet.

    Thanks

There are many different types of pumps & they are all different prices. There could be several hundred euros of a difference between pumps. What is the make & model of the pump? What pressure is it? How many bar?

There are some good quality reconditioned pumps out there and they even come with a warranty. A good quality new pump will come with a 5 years parts and labour warranty

I don’t know the details of the original pump unfortunately

That pump would really only be for one shower, and a very economical choice at that.

If you are pumping all of your domestic water you will need something better. Grundfos are a decent brand, and should work away without issue for years. A decent one would be every bit of €400.
