Great things are possible when you are bankrolled by an oil-state.

    Ahh that old chestnut:rolleyes:

Tourism is the biggest "bankroll" by a long shot. EK are looking to increase tourism numbers and get the public travelling again. It's next to impossible to get travel insurance that covers the current situation. This might tempt pax to travel again.

    More pax, more 380's!!

It may not cost that much if people take the right precautions. This gives them a peace of mind if the worst happens.

It would untimely cost Emirates/UAE a lot more if people don't start traveling again.

The 31 days doesn't seem to seem to be long enough to cover an eventuality of you catching Covid on the return flight in my opinion...

e.g. fly August 1st and back home August 22 (assuming 3 weeks for long haul holiday). Catch Covid on return flight with 10-14 days incubation period and suddenly you are passed the 31 day limit from your first flight
