Unbelievable that the Dems had 5 years to ready themselves for this fight and they wheel out Biden. It's like putting a retired punch drunk boxer up against an elderly but enthusiastic white-collar MMA fighter.

and yet the "enthusiastic white-collar MMA fighter" lost.

    Did you watch the debate?

Trump was agitated, belligerent and unable to focus on any topic other than Biden. He never once engaged with the audience (the viewers) and immediately got on the wrong side of the moderator.

Biden, by comparison, appeared empathetic and Presidential.

The war isn't over but last nights battle was no contest.

Should have been easy to answer so - "yes Chris I totally denounce them". Instead he went asking for which group, which group and then told the Proud Boys "stand back and stand by" - clear dog whistle to them.

That's his issue though; he can condemn white supremacy when he's reading from a prepared speech, but almost any time he's asked directly and has to speak extemporaneously, he can't do it.

All he had to say in response to the question last night was "Of course I denounce white supremacy, as I have many times before and always will do". That's it. It was absolutely as softball as it gets, because white supremacists would still vote for Trump anyway.

Instead, Biden mentions Proud Boys, and Trump tells them to "Stand back and stand by"

He couldn't have fluffed that question any more if he tried.

It's incredible that with such a weak candidate, Trump supporters are left calling a conspiracy that Wallace is a secret DNC plant.

If you really believe Biden is so bad, how poorly does that reflect on Trump that he couldn't debate with him?

these debates in here are as pointless as the presidential debates themselves...

    minds are closed

it's a race to the bottom and these debates are a circus

Biden recovered from a poor start but lost his temper twice. You can be guaranteed that Trump's team will focus on what set him off and you'll see many attempts to get at him in the next debate.
Biden just needs to stay calm and not say too much and he'll be in the White House.
Sad thing is the Democrats could have had a much younger candidate who would have destroyed Trump last night.

That’s the thing i can’t understand, why haven’t they got a much younger candidate??
Any good debater would destroy Trump and reduce him to a gibbering mess. There has to be thousands of people out there who could do it.
Biden looks like he’ll do well to survive until November let alone for four years after that.

Tiresome? Does he need to take a nap, or maybe another round of golf to take his mind of the hurt he's causing to his proud boys.

Also you should ask yourself why it feels tiresome to criticize white supremacists while forever banging on about antifa, the Communists and the radicals..

Maybe, just maybe for one iota of a second let it sink in that he wants and counts of these proud boys or people of their ilk to stay in power.

But, yeah let's deflect to Joe didn't do this or Joe didn't do that (when he actually did).

IT'S THERE BOYS, LET IT IN.. and start dealing with it instead of defending/deflection bull.

What? That doesn't even make sense as a sentence.

They want to reduce Brazilian production of food, that feeds more than 1 billion people on the world. Countries like China or Iran depends on it. Those democrats are a danger for the other countries, look at how many problems Obama created on Arab countries.

Trump speaks of supporting the police, then strips them of $400 million dollars. Comical almost.

Says the sherriff of Portland supports him, sherriff categorically denies it.

Says democrat cities have seen a rise in violence, ignores the fact republican cities have seen the same rise.

Calls antifa a terrorist organisation, contradicting the foremost law enforcement officer in the country who said there is no evidence for this.

Said he'd condemn white supremacy and then refuses, saying they should "stand by".

Said Joe Biden won't condemn violence when Biden had repeatedly done so.

Those are just some of Trumps lies from the law and order segment!

Has Biden got hsitory endorsing antifa?

Antifa is a bogeyman anyway. You can't really be strong on cracking down of speaking out against it because there is nothing really there to crack down on

Can't wait until Wednesday morning for the meltdown in here. Mods will more than likely attempt to bar me and other posters who point out Biden as the extremely weak candidate he is because of their hatred for the president. :D

    Good times.

So eh how did that work out for you? :D:pac:

Sadly, Biden is more likely to appeal to more of the moderates and swing voters than most of the other Dem candidates. I think most agree Biden is bland, boring, unprogressive, won't be able to unite the country in any discernible way, and he's also old as f*ck.

But considering he's beating Trump in the polls, particularly in many swing states... He's likely the best choice to have gone up against Trump.

Because Trump didn't and the knockout blow on the dementia suffering low energy Basement dwelling Biden, it has to be because of someone else.

It cannot possibly be Trump's fault.

It always needs to be someone else. If only Wallace had been on Trumps side, then Trump would have been able to deal with Biden properly.

    Invoking Poe's Law here.

Because a younger person would be, generally in DNC, more progressive. And that would be a clarion call for the GoP. A younger person would be classed as wanting to get rid of guns (the polls show a majority for that) so again, massive no-no.

A younger person would be attacked for having no experience.

People seem to think that any candidate would make a difference. Whatever candidate the DNC put up, no matter if it was Jesus himself (who would of course be classed as a socialist looking to give free healthcare and food) they would be attacked for whatever reason Trump could make up.

Now on to Trumps lies on veteran healthcare.

During a discussion on health care and insurance, Trump claimed 308,000 “military people” died because Biden “couldn’t provide them proper health care.”

Facts First: This claim is misleading and misconstrues the findings of a government report.

Trump seems to be referencing findings from a 2015 inspector general report that examined a backlog of healthcare applications at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The report found more than 307,000 records that remained pending in a VA enrollment system were for people who had already died, according to social security records.

But the report did not reach conclusions about whether lack of health care caused those deaths, and due to data limitations, the VA’s inspector general’s office could not determine how many of those records actually represented veterans who applied for health care benefits.

Moreover, the database in question contained some records for veterans who died before 1998, when Biden was a senator. And the report projected that at least 477,000 records pending in the system were missing application dates, which made the system “unreliable” for understanding the timeliness of care.

To be fair, the Primary system of selecting the candidate gives plenty people to throw their hat in to the ring.

The top 4 delegate winners in the Democrat Primaries this time round were all in their 70's. Pete Buttigieg was fifth at 38 but would have been a god send to Trump able to play on his youth and his 'non traditional' personal life would have probably pushed swing voters towards Trump.

All the above is even more frustrating when you think Obama is sitting at home at 59 having been retired for 4 years. Ideally it would have been Biden elected as President in 08 and Obama in the running now.

What's your point in posting here then?

You've said Trump won, but won't back it up with any reasoning once asked. If you're not interested in any kind of discussion, why bother posting at all?

    Trump style of discussion?

Joe hasn’t condemned radical left violence or violence in the name of / instruction of BLM once.
He had done so at least 3 times since June but I doubt that matters a jot to you.

Tried watching some of this. Trump bellicose and obnoxious, Biden listless and not presidential by any standards.

Just to say firstly that I'm far from a Trump supporter.

Trump was never going to debate Biden, the dogs on the street know this and the Dems should've known this. But Biben being a weak opponent isn't the problem. Biden is the wrong opponent and by saying that that doesn't mean I think Trump is a particularly strong opponent.

A person can be critical of two opposing teams.

The loser last night was America,

You can bet your house that in 4 years time the media will be in the same kind of we must get Biden out frenzy as they currently are with Trump ,

Both are awful candidates for President

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,527 ✭✭✭tobefrank321

Trump is not a debater. He lost the 2016 debates by a massive margin in polls afterwards, 63% for Hillary vs his 27%.

If you are looking for a focused, mature, issue based debate, he's the wrong guy.

If on the otherhand you want someone who will get down and dirty, roll around in the mud and throw some at everyone else, he's your guy.

Trump's 'You're a number two' quip must be a new low point in American presidential debate history.

I'm sure one would be the fact he has clear cognitive issues,

To me that seems like a pretty big issue,

And i'm no fan of Donald ,

I agree. It is very worrying Joe couldn't take advantage of how stupid Trump is. I can imagine someone like Obama or Clinton in their prime would have won the debate easy. I think Joe coming out of these debates not being a clear winner doesn't bode well for us.

Nixon? Reagan? Bush Snr? Bush Jnr? Eisenhower? Trump? All engaged in wars and/or brutalised the Middle East as much as any Democrat.

Obama or especially Clinton would've left Trump in tears last night. Shivering on the floor.

Two dreadful candidates last night. Rough 4 years ahead.
