Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    It's on the red button.

I don’t have the red button.

Poor quality but it is a classic kind of contest between a pure potter and a tactical minded player. Thats what makes it interesting for me. Usually favour the tactical guy in these situations but we shall see. McGill has the experience too so has to be favourite.

If you have a free to air system you can tune it in as a separate channel.

Double standards from the BBC. If the O'Sullivan v Ding match was still going, they wouldn't have ended the coverage. I don’t know if it's a blessing not seeing the end of the Clarke/McGill match.

Given the controversial incident I think It's a must watch, whatever the standard of snooker.

I think it'll go to a decider but I'd fancy McGill to get through.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Pity the pack didn't split more favourably there for McGill as with a little bit of luck the maximum was on. I would have liked to have seen Clarke's reaction if Mcgill got the 147 as i dont think they have acknowledged each others presence all night.

Don’t agree with that, they still would have ended their coverage on BBC 2

I noticed that too...no tap on the table for good shots , although there’s has not been many of them. There’s hatred going on there alright

100% they would. No one is safe from the BBC timetabling.
Also I can't believe anyone pays any heed to Ronnie's interviews. He's been asked the same questions for 25 years and chooses not to answer them like a footballer, basically. He just says whatever nonsense comes into his head.

Said it before but I'll say it again, the two-table phase of the Crucible is where a Freesat box is worth its weight in gold. We have two. One for all the soaps and dramas and all the other crap :) , the other one is free for me to do what I please.

BBC2 - World Snooker series link - check
BBC Four - World Snooker series link - check
BBC RB1 - World Snooker series link - check

Yes the red button is a recordable channel and it does series link too :) and all of this works even though this box only has one satellite cable feed. And I can stream this to a phone, tablet or laptop anywhere in the house...

    Scrap the cap!

Yeah it's looking like a decider isn't it.

McGill reminds me of Graeme Dott, looks that bit intense all the time, where Clarke looks a bit more calm. I fancy Clarke for it, dunno why.

I don't think McGill is even looking at the table when Clarke is playing.

I couldn't see if they 'bumped elbows' at the start tonight as the camera seemed to pan away. Will be interesting to see if it does go 12 all, and at the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,476 ✭✭✭Comic Book Guy

I thought Clarke was going to kiss the pink on way back up the table from the break off, unusual one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Found his potting range again it seems. Good stuff here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,480 ✭✭✭AllForIt

They might bump heads instead Arthur

Thats standard mcgill protocol when in his seat so wouldn't read anything extra into that.

    This really is dreadful stuff

Great entertainment. The quality of play barely matters at this stage as the two players are running on empty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

    Come on McGill.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Fake applause for a fluked snooker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,385 ✭✭✭RebelButtMunch

Woeful stuff but im enjoying Dale's commentary

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Anyone that thinks this is woeful stuff has no appreciation of this great game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,385 ✭✭✭RebelButtMunch

They couldn't pot a ball to save their lives. Riding their luck all over the place. I enjoyed the ding o'Sullivan game .

The quality isn't great but the tense atmosphere is what makes it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,908 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

That's the end of this frame anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

This is proper World Championship snooker. You can see impressive break building at any tournament, but this type of low-quality, high drama tense snooker is only truly seen at the Crucible. Loving this match.

He had a couple of good chances did McGill but the young Welsh man comes out on top in tjat epic safety battle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Utterly absorbing match, loving every second of it. McGill had all the luck in that frame but couldnt make it count.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,484 ✭✭✭DelBoy Trotter

The drama and tension is great, but this is woeful snooker. And I’m not saying that as there hasn’t been many high breaks, I’m saying that as the standard is dreadful. You don’t need high breaks to make a great match, but you do need a decent standard of safety play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭taytobreath

Yan ver has is a great ref in fairness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭taytobreath

    Omg the drama

This site is a disgrace the last few weeks ffs, it takes me four or five times to submit a post

Give me this over a 147-fest anyday. Loving it

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,908 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

    Must be the end here.

Look at that black, looming at the top of the table...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Dying to see how McGill gets from pink to black under this kind of pressure.

EDIT: Beautifully, is the answer. And then he goes and misses the black. :)

    Wooow

Some bottle potting that black. Now we get a decider, brilliant. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,484 ✭✭✭DelBoy Trotter

Shocking miss on the pink by Clarke, fair play to McGill for snatching that frame

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭taytobreath

    I love snooker

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,515 ✭✭✭aaronjennings

I wonder would the crowd make the atmosphere lighter or tenser?
