Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No way Ronnie holds it together for 2 frames

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Doubt he'll win 2 more frames with the kamikazee stuff but would certainly cap one of the great days of snooker if he did.

If Ronnie had the temperament he'd be invincible..

Jesus - opening red was shot of the tournament

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

    Lol what is this.

The time he took over the free ball or replacing was a joke. Everyone knew what he was going to do but he stood there humming and hawing

I wonder if that’s pissed Ronnie off so much that he’s decided to get pay back on Selby by beating him!

This nonsense about Selby boring Ronnie...

Crap. Selby played all aspects of game..won fair and square..

Few tricky and difficult issues and Ronnie can’t handle it. It’s that simple..

    It’s fooking snooker.....not pool!

Good mind games from Selby to do that. It worked for that frame

Sorry your right that one was a bit OTT but someone of Ronnie's experience/class shouldn't be that easy to get at

    Embarrasingly good.

    O'Sullivan a bit lucky there.

I don't want this day of snooker to end.

Been years since I've enjoyed a day of sport so much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,480 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Wow, Ronnie deserved that bit of luck there leaving a red over the centre pocket.

I don't know. There's playing the spirit of the game as well. Deliberately slowing the game down to put your opponent off seems against it to me.

I'm not a Ronnie fan but Selby just rubs me up the wrong way. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

Legend! Best the boring bastard please

Don't think so, the best I ever saw was years ago, Tony Jones, might have been playing James Wattana. I can't recall the exact score, but he was at least 70 behind, and won by a point. He needed a snooker, it may have been 75-0, a 4 point snooker, followed by a 72 clearance with all blacks and reds. The clearance was definitely all reds and blacks to win by 1. Wattana, I think scored 70, may have been 75. Never seen 83 lose a frame before, but then again, I've never seen a frame like that one, it was crazy.

Just checked this, was the first round in 1993. The story was embillished a bit by my failing memory. It was actually a lot simpler. Wattana 71-0 up, 72 left, Jones got in and cleared the lot, but Wattana won 10-5

We don't want any scrappy safety in this decider. He needs to get in on the balls. Fingers crossed. You know he is going to take anything on and that's the danger.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭ThewhiteJesus

Shame there’s no crowd for this, gripping

    Another decider, another fantastic match

Surely he won't just smash any potential tricky shots in this frame at least I hope not would love to see him get to the final again playing like this!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

    There will be no safety.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Come on Ronnie one more frame please!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,913 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Ronnie has morphed from "I want to go home not bovvered really 2020 Ronnie", to 1993 Ronnie potting everything.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    I wouldn’t rule out a 147 here.

    That works both ways
Deliberately speeding it up by smashing balls around which puts your opponent off?

    It’s a game of snooker
Once you don’t break the rules all is fair

First shot in the decider and Ronnie actually plays a safety!
