    Berlin - I like bears

Ceuta - I like black and white combos. Rare on a flag.

Cueta - I've had enough of rampant lions and the bear on the Berlin flag looks a bit cartoonish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

It's 2-2 between Berlin and Ceuta so it's decision time.

All fair points but I think cdeb's point about a rarity of black and white combos is a great nugget.

    Ceuta takes the win.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes - best of the three, it's got a little bit of everything going on.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes - the punk dolphin steals the show

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,211 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Auvergne looks like a flag designed by people who didn't want to offend anyone, and by doing so offended everyone. I can just hear that dolphin identifying as navy. It can't be navy; it's a dolphin!

Bavaria is quietly classy by contrast. It gets my vote

  • Registered Users, Subscribers Posts: 47,304 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes one looks like it was made up from the bits left over in flag making class. Bavaria gets my vote because of the other two it's the one without lions on it.

Bavaria - partly because it's mercifully lion-free! But also because the diamond pattern makes it stand out, and the choice of relaxing colours stop it from being too garish.

Also they have that flag on some great beers.

EDIT: Look at the weary expressions and tired eyes of those Hainaut lions - even they know that enough is enough!!

Hainaut, four dragons > demon dolphin. The other one is just ugly.

I'm late to the party but may I join in?

Bavaria for me. It makes me chuckle to think they originally designed it with squares but it got stuck in the printer (true story)

Plus the other two... look, I love an animal on a flag but if you're going to include one pay someone who can fecking draw to draw them!

Is that even their flag though?
    They seem very confused...

The Bavarian secret police try to suppress the truth to protect the region's reputation, but it's true I tell you!

La Rioja - a four stripe flag is a bit different from the norm. Plus I like their wine.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Toss up between the first two because they're both quite pretty, but going with Mecklenburg-Vorpommer. Apparently the yellow stripe represents the millions affected by yellow fever back in the 1700s. True story.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,944 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Vote Cantabria - bit of class to it

La Rioja, the colours are too garish
Mecklenburg-Vorpommer looks like the background to a game of Frogger

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,211 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Yeah, the better of the two quadricolour flags on offer. I like the green/yellow combo in particular

La Rioja, pretty colour combination. Would make an excellent beach towel.

    I probably am though.

Let me just double check the La Rioja crest to make sure it's not hiding a lion....

    ....

.....ok, it's clear. La Rioja for the bold "horizontal tricolour but it's actually four stripes" move.
