Really enjoyed this, a very haunting sound to it. A new artist for me to explore for sure.

Ah good aul Niall from Mullingar. I’ve liked a few of his solo songs already but haven’t heard this one. It’s a really nice ballad. For someone from a naff boyband he’s put out some really good material on his own. I think he should just ditch the rest of them at this stage.

I don’t think I’ve heard this before but it sounds strangely familiar. I like how the song gradually builds and the strings are brilliant.

Okay, confession time. I listen to a lot of piano solo covers of songs, there’s a guy on YouTube called The Theorist who’s particularly good. I really like the Metallica version and Scott does his best to transfer it to piano. I was wondering how he would do the guitar solo and he somehow pulled it off.

One of the best covers ever and one of the best Christmas number ones ever. I know it best from the advert for Gears of War because I’m a huge nerd. Unlucky not to place higher.

I always liked the Elvis version of this song and I enjoyed this country version too but I’d choose Elvis first. Willie just doesn’t have the same vocal range as The King.

I’m a big fan of this man. Unfortunately he didn’t achieve fame during his life and it’s one of the saddest stories in music. A special talent who would have been a huge star if he had the technology available today to share his music.

I’ve only heard his cover of Bitches Ain’t Shít so this is definitely a departure from that :pac: It’s an uplifting song but there’s nothing really grabbing me in it unfortunately. Not crazy about his voice, especially the high pitched parts.

I asked which version the user would like to submit and we’re going with the lesser known original version without Timbaland’s “Ay Ay Ay” in the background. The piano plays all the way through the song only stopping briefly after a guitar solo. I much prefer this original version to the more famous Timbaland remix I must say. The intro to the song is a lot better with a string section and the song isn’t drowned out with whatever you would call the “beat” that he added.

It's one of his more upbeat songs. Has a lot of darker stuff too, I really like a song called River Man.

I do like the piano in this, unfortunately there’s very little of it. There’s a build-up starting at 1:50 and then at 2:16…nothing happens which was disappointing.

Love this song, I rate Ryan Tedder very highly as a songwriter.
    Excellent choice Liz!!

One of my favourite songs ever. I had it as my ringtone for ages. The only thing keeping it off the podium places is the piano being more of a secondary instrument behind the more memorable saxophone. Jazz perfection!

Shoot!!! That was my second choice!! Oh, well. . .

Yeah Bryter Layter is a more upbeat album for him.

Love River Man too, this is my 4th Nick Drake submission to a walrus I think.

Glad to see your a fan Shane, I've gotten mixed results in the past :D

Phew! I'll happily take that! :D

Amazing song, as you say the piano is secondary to the sax (and the amazing percussion) but it anchors the song so well, like a solid bass riff. This category was the toughest for me as I had so many options in my head to go with, thankfully it's worked out pretty well!

Very disappointed in this, was expecting better from such a famous artist who has a lot of songs I already like. It’s a nice easy listening song but it didn’t need to be seven minutes long as it doesn’t really build to anything.

    Likewise, old bean! :P

I think it was yourself who entered "Northern Sky" in a Walrus before, which was my introduction to Nick Drake. Ever since it's become one of my favourite songs ever. I'll always be indebted to you for that!

Poor Bruce hasn't fared too well in Walrus recently, has he? Considering he's "officially" the second greatest music act of all time!!

Love the piano. Love her voice. Love everything about this! The piano between verses is especially good. Need to listen to this band more. The best discovery of the round.

Yep I remember that! And then I didn’t enter anything by him to your walrus 😂
