Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No GG again. Haksabanovic on bench. Jenz on bench. Strange

Great first 15 apart from the injury.

Could have had a penalty too.

Sublime finish from Jota. Great first half so far.

That was a beautiful goal from Jota. I could watch that over and over.

    Tremendous first half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

LOL at that 4th one. Get another 2 or 3 here and leave a marker down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Only 2 minutes of injury time to save them further embarrassment. 4-0 brilliant stuff from Celtic. Could and should have been a few more. Absolutely battered them.

    We walloped them today

WOW absolutely brilliant CELTIC,Can't wait till Tuesday.

Great performance, Jota is some player and cracking goal. Look to be far ahead of everyone in the league on this form, can't wait to see how we do against Real on Tuesday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,295 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

Rangers were lucky the ref Nick Walsh was so lenient today

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,093 ✭✭✭Brewster

Brilliant performance bhoys, better all over the park from 1-11. There is no doubt that the position of goalkeeper was crucial today. There is no way Hart concedes at least 3 of the goals. I thought Rangers keeper was very very poor. He should definitely have saved first and it simply energised Celtic and there was only one winner after this, it was a question of how many. Ange has built a great team, all credit to him.

Golson should definitely have seen red. Unbelievable the elbow on Jota was missed and then that desperately poor lunge on Maeda.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Will be a special night. Real usually bring their A game in the knockout stages. Live chance of a big result on Tuesday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,322 ✭✭✭RoryMac

And the penalty in the first half when Jura was about to shoot

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,322 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Yeah will be a special night, don't remember us ever looking as ready to go into the Champions League.

Celtic will comfortably win the league this year

You would imagine so, but things can change quickly in Scottish football. Everyone said Rangers would canter to league last season, and look what happened. Celtic overwhelming favourites I would say, but always need to caution against injuries to key individuals etc.

The CL campaign will determine just now good a side they are compared with past Celtic sides.

Fantastic performance today, really on a different level to Rangers. So much creativity in the team, and a good bench too.

Really sets it up nicely now for Tuesday night. Heading over to the game and can't wait. Wonder do Celtic employ the same all out attack, or play more cautiously? Don't think they can to be honest, but Madrid always give up chances so can see Celtic scoring for sure.

Sounds like we will try and press and outscore RM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,774 ✭✭✭eire4

So true we were brilliant and yet Walsh still still managed to save them an even worse beating with a strong of "honest mistakes" be it the lack of PK at 1-0 or the second half no red for Goldson never mind letting Lunstrum away with it again and again. A joy to watch that football not just the result.

Can't wait to see how our game plan does against a team of such quality. Hopefully we'll give a good account of ourselves and get something from the game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 247 ✭✭Perseverance The Second

Classy stuff from Celtic fans as always. This time throwing bananas at the Black player

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,322 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Disappointed with the result but not too unexpected, really put it up to Real in the 1st half but couldn't take any of our chances.

A few players ran out of steam early in the first half and Real made us pay like they have so many other teams.

Result in the other game suggests it's all to play for in getting second place. Great to see a Celtic team take on the best side in Europe playing good attacking football

  • Registered Users Posts: 254 ✭✭dom40

We were really good in the first and we paid the price in the second half by not taking those early chances,I really thought we could have got something out of this game but they are a class side and showed that in the second half.

Excellent first half from us, we obviously tired in the second half and two quick goals done us. I thought the subs could have come around the hour mark. Fine margins given the ball canoning off the inside of the post and coming out. The team can hold their heads high

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

No bananas were thrown at any players. Pathetic.

Really enjoyed the trip to the game. One of the best atmospheres I've even had the pleasure to witness. It was deafening in the few minutes around the teams entrance and the CL anthem.

As for the game itself, fair play to celtic for not changing their style of play. I never expected they would but nice to see 2 teams just go out to try and outscore each other.

Celtic really needed a goal from all the 1st half effort, and they had 2 great chances. Had 1 of those gone in, who knows.

But Madrid controlled every thing in the 2nd half and realy stepped it up. They were class all over the team.

And nice to see Modric get an ovation. They know class when they see it at CP.

Celtic still have a great chance in this group. They could easily do the other 2 teams if they play like that. But they need to become a 90min team instead of a 45min one.

I was hoping that they wouldn't bring their A game but they were organised and fully committed.

We needed to score first to have a chance, came very close with McGregor. Abada among one or two others was a bit overawed by the occasion and missed his chance and Maeda isn't the best finisher and it was unfortunate that the chance at the start of the second half fell to him. Abada will learn from the occasion, with Haksakabanaovic and Abildgaard to come into the team we may have better options going forward than Maeda who's fine domestically but not up to this level. Outclassed in the end but should be competitive with the other teams in the Group.

Haksakabanaovic (needs a nickname for ease of typing) has looked very encouraging in both his cameos thus far, great to have proper depth to the squad.

Another horrific loss for the blues. What a week it has been for them

  • Registered Users Posts: 254 ✭✭dom40

Straight back in to European action on Wednesday then at least we won't plck up any injuries in between and get stuck in to Shakhtar.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Think we'll need to win this if we're to finish 2nd or even 3rd in the Group. Shaktar got 3 points away to Leipzig but Leipzig have sorted themselves out since then and appointed a new manager. Definitely need to take something from the game. Everyone is fit and it's a neutral venue so expecting a good performance but need to put away chances when they come.

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

Shaktar didn't beat liepzig away it was a neutral venue as well, not that it makes a difference really. Maximum points needed tonight I think or we can definitely forget about 2nd place.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,322 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Strange first half, started really well and were looking dominant then after the goal we seemed to go asleep.

Don't think our midfield have got control of the game and passing has been a lot sloppier than normal. Hopefully we can get going 2nd half

    Should of won that...

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,322 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Disappointing result, a game we should really have won. Created some decent chances but didn't think we played anywhere near our best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,295 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

On the face of it 1-1 away from home is good but that was disappointing. Wasteful in front of goal and should easily have collected all three points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,044 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

You'd have to say that's disappointing.

    A thoroughly winnable game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 254 ✭✭dom40

We got a point but Jesus we missed some amount of chances again, disappointed that we did not take the 3 points to nite

  • Registered Users Posts: 495 ✭✭polarbearhead

I love Maedas work rate but he's not good enough for the champions league

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

Late winner for Madrid thank god

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,093 ✭✭✭Brewster

Fantastic result bhoys. Could have won it, but a win at home against Shaktar should secure third place? Disappointing to see the banner controversy this am. Not a good luck in media, no need for it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

Shouldn't you be in mourning Brewster?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,742 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

Why 3rd? Surely second place still up for grabs
