Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seeing some good comments on Kessie, what kind of midfielder is he?

Sort of a box-to-box midfielder. Excellent at shielding the ball in possession, lots of energy. Very good player and good at penalties also.

    Kinda like Wijnaldum for Liverpool?

Kessie would be stronger and better defensively but not as good at arriving in the box at the end of a move.

I'd say a bit more of an Essien type to be honest. Not as good, but that sort of dominant style and physicality.

If you showed me that game 10 years ago and said it was between united and ac milan I wouldn't have believed you. Very poor quality from both teams. I'd have been equally surprised if you told me both teams were going to be battling it out against each other in the europa league but both teams looked at that level tonight.

And yet both teams are 2nd in 2 of the best 4 leagues in Europe. Imagine that.

Both teams missing star players but fact is that these are probably 2 of the top 10-15 teams in Europe. The words "very poor" just make the post look silly really. Thought it was a good game and AC looked good in midfield but a bit toothless up front. United created better chances but with an ageing Matic in there were getting overrun at times.

Hopefully both teams can get their players back for the 2nd leg.

That McGregor save against Slavia Prague was something else. Literally saved it with his pinky :D

Didn't the Zagreb manager resign during the week after being sent to prison?

    You couldn't write this stuff

    Haha what a goal

What a goal to complete the hat trick.

Mourinho is some clown. No interest in trying to play today, getting what he deserves.

I read he got four years for fraud and stealing 13 million from player transfers

    Rangers 1 down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,022 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Massive save to deny Kane there, after a very solid save from a Bale shot a minute earlier.
Big couple of minutes from the keeper.

Spurs are out and deservedly so Jose's tactics were a bit of a disgrace.

Jose got what he deserved I think. Far too negative.

Beginning of the end for him at Spurs imo.

Horrible week for Spurs, especially when you include the derby defeat on Sunday.

EL was probably their most realistic hope of CL football next year.
    But they deserved nothing tonight.

Kessie the player on the park by a mile in the Ac v United game l9oks a proper plauer

Mourinho’s tactics are ridiculously outdated. Completely got what they deserved.

Bruno Fernandes is like Deli Ali when he was on form
Hes not a midfeilder but not a forward and lives on moment if he doesnt have a "moment" he is anonymous

Slop defending by AC Milan. Had so many chances to clear it and United were fortunate as well. Completely undeserved goal.

You don’t watch him play much, it’s obvious. Most of United attacks go through him.

Staggering that a clearly intelligent and knowledgeable man does not appear to have advanced his tactical approach one jot since he was the plucky underdog at Porto 17 years ago.

Even aside from this, Spurs should be comfortable in the top 4 given the patchy seasons Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have had.

I wonder has he just lost his charisma and drive that he had in the earlier part of his managerial career.

Just started watching from 1st half saw the 'St Anne's Park' goal Milan conceded. They seem to be around the same level as the PL used to be back in the early 90's. Retirement home for fellas like Ibra. Young lads that did not make the cut in the PL.

What a fall from grace Milan used to be the aristocrats.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

This is their best season in close to a decade I'd say. They've been an irrelevance in Serie A for a long time, finally got into a bit of a title chase this season, and look alright to make the Champions League for the first time in ages.

Haven't heard a serious suggestion of it since at least 2010, tbf.

Also much the better side for 3 halves of the United tie.

A lot of interaction between both management teams after the Rangers match. It looks like an allegation of a racial comment directed at Kamara. Gerrard not letting it go. He's due to speak on the BT2 Highlights show.

There was a time their fans were snubbing the idea of Celtic and Rangers having to start below the Premier League. Looks laughable now.

That was some hat trick in the Spurs game though

Yeah they’d be wiped week in week out by the top 4 in the championship

First goal Spurs conceded was weird, Keeper looks like he's getting to it, big hand, fingers extended, and then he closes fingers just as ball goes past his hand as to not save it.

If Rangers and Celtic had access to the money the Premier League gets they'd do pretty well.

They wouldn't have many Scottish players playing for them after a while that is for sure.

I can't remember the last time I watch the Scottish league. Pointless, two teams brand names built on a religious divide from another country and damn all else.

The nr. 3 in the EPL got knocked out by the same team that eliminated Rangers.

Rangers going out in the last 16 is hardly proof that they wouldn't hold their own in the Premier League.
