Zapata has struck an emphatic equaliser for Atalanta. Great hit.

    Yes, he is his son.

Yeah, he's his son. There's also a brother Khephren who plays for Nice.

Gundogan has made it 2-0 City. Should put the result to bed. AVB has thrown on Payet for the last ten minutes.

Make that 3-0. Sterling taps in KDB's perfect ball across. KDB's last involvement as he's subbed.

Atletico have turned it around to lead 3-2. Felix gets another. Benzema meanwhile has grabbed one back for Madrid in Germany.

    Christ Firminio, that is shocking

Salah holding the back of his ankles when the penalty was for a push in the back.

    Utterly pathetic.

Looked like he stood on him as he was running, no?

Your hate for Liverpool is highly entertaining, do keep it up :)

Gladbach unable to hang on. Casemiro gets an equaliser.

    Obviously, he knows it though.

Great penalty from the best African player in the world.

That's what George Hamilton said, but it was for the defender's foot landing on his ankle.

Very similar to Digne I thought, and surprised it was only a yellow as it doesn't constitute a valid attempt to get the ball.

I wonder if VAR would have made a different decision had it not been pretty much the final kick of the game.

messi vs ronaldo won't happen tonight as cristiano is after testing positive for covid again, or rather he is still infected from the initial positive test.

Looking forward to seeing how Krasnodar's Safonov gets on against Chelsea. He impressed me last year and I used to look out for his matches on the Russian FA's Youtube channel. I recall he had a dodgy run of form at one stage and lost his place but was able to regain the jersey. He did very well in the opening game against Rennes and is still only 21:

Werner and co. should test him plenty today.

Werner wins a penalty for Chelsea. Silly challenge.

Jorginho hits the post! Rebound comes off Safonov and they get it clear. Wonder will Werner be on pens now...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Chelsea lead 1-0 via Hudson-Odoi and it's a Safonov howler. Lets it squirm right under his body. Shame for him as he had been doing well before that. Has to be saving that.

Neymar gone off with a thigh injury in PSG's game. Still goalless there.

Half-time. Krasnodar have had a few chances. Mendy made a good save and they went close with a deflected effort, but Chelsea have been the better side and merit the lead. The Safonov mistake might just have knocked the stuffing out of them as it was a gift.

Moise Kean has PSG ahead from an Mbappe corner. Free header. Istanbul had been doing well and Navas had to make a good stop shortly before that.

Chelsea have got another pen via handball. Werner is taking this one. And he smashes it home for 2-0. Great pen.

3-0 Chelsea. Ziyech with a nice finish and it's his last act of the game as he's subbed. Chelsea looking dangerous.

Paris are 2-0 up as Kean gets a second. Nice finish after Mbappe got a slight touch on it. Things are going well for Kean atm.

4-0 Chelsea as Pulisic finishes after great strength from Abraham to set it up. Chelsea attack looks like it's starting to click.

Full-time in Russia. Chelsea's forward players made a statement. Mendy's performance shouldn't be overlooked though as he made some fine stops.

All over in Turkey as well. Paris not at their best but a solid win. Kimpembe impressive in defence. I would say he's in the discussion for best CB at present now that Van Dijk is out. He'd be in my top 5 certainly.

The only 2 who actually played well against Madrid (Dest & Fati) on the bench for Barca tonight. Now Bartomeu is gone I am expecting far more from Barca now.

Griezmann just hit the post there.

    Moisie Kean plays for PSG?
    I did not know that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Barca lead Juve via a wicked deflection on Dembele's shot. Lazio are leading Brugge through a lovely Correa hit.

Despite dembele's lucky deflection, I am expecting Juve goals if Barca keep, predictably and foolishly trying to walk the ball out of their own box. Stupid and so so predictable. Almost gave away one already, when will they learn how to defend?

Greenwood with a lovely finish for 1-0.

Looks a tight one so VAR will have to check it. Lovely ball by Pogba.

    Goal is given.

I was sure that would be ruled out for offside. It looked just offside.

Greenwood might have been off in the Prem

    Looked offside to me.

If that was the PL we'd have 20 minutes of doodling on the screen before calling it wrong :D

Would have been offside in the PL

Can’t understand from the angle shown on tv how it wasn’t offside? Foot looked ahead of the defender.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,084 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Are the offside rules different in UEFA the the Premier league or are VAR different

Well done VAR, the system works.

    In Europe anyway.

From what was shown, he was offside. Commentator on Virgin said from another angle, the defenders knee/shoulder played him onside. Apparently.

Brian Kerr knows as much as I do about how they come to their decisions about offside. He said something about the hair in their armpit.

In Europe they're not monitored by Englishmen with an agenda

Cant even score a perfect good goal now and the neutrals are upset

Come off it. From the angle shown he was offside.

If there's a different angle, then it should be shown.

I think Kerr later said they might have gone by his shoulder, even though Greenwood's boot and knee were offside.

This secrecy bit is fierce annoying . We ‘ var’ have another angle that shows something different to what you can see. Just show , even the frame when the ball is kicked. It can’t be that hard..
I honestly think these var officials are bluffing their way through tight decisions
