I have a friend who has a Honda 2417 mower, but he has damaged the deck from hitting footpaths ( I think) and it was welded for him but I looked at it this morning and the weld has given way and the deck is precarious looking to say the least.
He is USELESS when it comes to DIY and has no concept of a bit of preventative care when it comes to doing a bit of repair when things happen, rather than waiting until the machine fails completely and then spending big money on it. His attitude this morning was "ah its probably beyond repair so I'll buy a new mower". To make it worse his local lawn mower shop agrees (without seeing it) and are recommending a replacement for €4,500.
Anyway, I can locate a new deck fairly locally, but my question is, how easy is it to fit a new deck.
Is it just a matter of removing the blades and belts and then removing the actual deck and then do the reverse to fit the new one.
I noticed that the deck is attached with "length adjustable" struts, so should I just remove one end of these and that way I don't have to adjust anything when I put it back together.
I'm relatively handy at DIY and have all the usual tools (spanners, ratchets etc) but wouldn't have any specialist stuff, if required.
    Advice very much appreciated.
