I no the lad that was caught down in Newtown. Standard Garda checkpoint for Operation Slowdown or whatever it was called. Apparently he panicked and starting acting suspicious. I wouldn't say he has any links with a certain individual in Rathnew, but you wouldn't know these days.

The fella that was caught was on probabation (non drug related), what do you reckon he'll get if anything after being caught with €30k worth of coke?

The laws are so arseways he could get 5 years off 1 judge or 8 years fully suspended off a different judge

A trusted gang "adherent" who laundered hundreds of thousands of euro for the Kinahan criminal organisation has been jailed for five years by the Special Criminal Court this morning, while his partner and co-accused has walked from court with a suspended sentence.

he is already banged up for something else so the sentence wont make any difference to him.

Might be slightly off topic but I know there are some really knowledgeable lads in this thread (especially with regards to up north!)

Question: do you think real provos still exist up north? Those of which would be anti drugs and pro United ireland Ra heads. I’m wondering do the IRA still have that faction around and would they be looking at a possible Irish border now as an excuse to have a pop?

Real Provos still exist, however they are an elderly dying breed. They are fairly old at this stage and well off. The Provisional IRA died after Castlereagh robbery, if it wasn't already known by then, the war was certainly over after they discovered just how rotten with informants it was. It was said that if the IRA wanted to gain revenge on every informant in the country, it would have had to have slaughtered half its membership after what they learned from those documents.

There is a bastard generation just below, that would trade on the name but they wouldn't have seen any proper action. Relatives of names etc but they are criminals, nothing Republican about their behaviour or motives. The only reason they would have issue with an Irish Border was if it caused them any bother laundering. The border would probably help financially them no end, truth be told.

The old PIRA is dead in so far as attacks etc go. It still exists in a high command structure because there are still small stashes of weaponry that were never handed over by certain cells and the various financial rackets they have going this decades but there is absolutely no chance of any kind of sustained, long term return to conflict.

There are some very dangerous fellows still knocking about the various splinters though. What they pass on, who knows but there is no real appetite for that kind of thing up here anymore. History keeps repeating itself, they are all riddled with informants. The fellas up in Derry are finding that out now after the Lyra McKee murder.

Should be consecutive all the time. These concurrent sentences are literally letting people off scot free.

His sentenced was handed down in such a way that it adds time to his other sentence according to the news earlier

Think it’s widely accepted he’d been firebombing houses on behalf of the M’s and intimidating certain individuals / families for the same gang.

i think youll find youre wrong think that house that got firebombed was someone who owed him money -he didn't do it for someone else. if anything he had a few young lads doing it for him. dont think he was even selling for the m's. not when he was killed anyway

Tbf, 17 is not that young in that game anymore, there's plenty of 12 and 13 year olds running around estates all over Dublin doing dropsies for 16 and 17 year old lads.
