Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Christ almighty.

Yeah, that 350 covid payment shouldn't have been a free for all payment. It should have been tied into compliance. If caught breaking guidelines - payment removed.

Just learned last evening of a brother of a friend (of my own middle-aged vintage) who died of Covid. Sparse funeral attended by his mother and siblings. If anybody thinks it's an ordinary illness, think again.

Very sorry to hear. When did they die? Would be interesting to see how they affected the stats coming in here or if they'll be one of the notifications that we hear about in a months time or more.

must of read wrong sorry. It is a hard thing but testing people of contacts is standard practice. Telling people to isolate is also.
    Sorry about the play date.
Don't see schools working myself but we must try.

Not at all, my sarcastic “class” at the end probably made it sound like I was pissed off.

I’m happy that my mate cancelled and I’m impressed in my circle of friends they’re all approaching these things sensibly. My post was more about wondering if the logistics of this whole thing as it scales up with all kids back in school in a couple of weeks. If a kid in my kids class ends up in same scenario, do they close the class until results, and if they do I should prob not go to work, as I’d have to leave my kid with my mother, etc. I just can’t see how it scales tbh.

My local only opened on Wednesday, was a food pub before but apparently they’ve gone above and beyond and we’re getting lots of work done to implement guidelines. It’s a place with a lot of “built in” seating so they tore it all out and revamped it. I’d say if you had paid for that and were trying to do things right you’d be beyond livid seeing that video this evening.

Have to agree, most pubs in Dublin I've seen are doing their best under difficult circumstances to trade.

This place undoes all their good work and tarnishes them.

Needs to be shut down right away. Anyone know the owner group? Is it private or part of a chain.

The government are eventually going have to come out with a positive campaign to tell people Covid is not as bad as first thought because otherwise too many people are going to be paralysed with the fear they have instilled in them to get the country back to some normality.

I think it is naive to think that sort of behaviour only occurred with the reopening of places. House parties consisting of friends and friends of friends have been going since lockdown.

The current situation of increased cases has occurred despite; masks being mandatory, pubs being closed, social distancing being required, schools being shut, large gatherings being banned etc. It's odd you look at a video of people partying and somehow conflate that to "I'm glad the pubs are closed" where the recent spikes have come from pubs being closed so it is clearly something else you should be focusing on. Unless you have some sort of grudge or irrational bias against pubs?

These place are so far removed from rural pubs that are dying as a result of restrictions.

Berlin in Dublin absolutely hoppin tonight. Great laugh. Drinking from the same bottle. It must take immense effort to be that dense.
What next can we add to the list of arbitrary measures? Don’t go to work, stay at home, physical distancing, stand in this circles, follow this arrow, wear a mask and now a hotline for touting on fellow citizens.
As far as I'm concerned their status as a "fellow citizen" is irrelevant if they're putting me or anyone belong to me in danger. Are you flouting the restrictions or something, that why you're feeling threatened? I'm just trying to imagine why you might think it's a bad thing for people to be protecting themselves.
There won't be another national lockdown, we wouldn't be able to afford it. Its every man/woman for themselves now unfortunately.

And people will have to get back to school and work and protect themselves as best they can. Masks, distancing, ventilation, hand washing etc.
Thanks for that. We're blessed that you're so decisive when it comes to determining the outcome of people's lives.

The number of cases still under investigation is jumping sharply too though. That happened in March and many were later reclassified as community transmission.

    As it stands today:
    68 clusters
    25 confirmed CT
    which leaves 107 unknown.

Prof. Nolan said last week that the rough breakdown was

    c. 70/71% linked to cluster/outbreak/close contact
    c. 16% Community Transmission
    c. 6% Possible Community Transmission
    c. 2% Travel
    c. 4% Travel Related

The remaining cases will hopefully shake out along those lines. If not, we're probably f'd.

You must be looking at a different video..
People queuing o have drink poured in to their mouths, (can't do that through a mask( and then they go off back to their spot brushing up against people.

Music blaring so people have to shout when trying to say anything and then the people screaming which is spreading droplets all over the place.
A perfect situation for a cluster if someone is infected in there.

Sure 8 Aberdeen football players have gotten in trouble for going to a bar, last I heard at least two of them were confirmed to be Covid positive.

If anyone in that video went in to work Monday morning after being in that bar, I hope to god they get sent home to self isolate for two weeks with no pay!!!

Gardai are already involved and have been since early afternoon is what I'm being told, could be the first place to lose their license.
