That's minuscule. Great to see. Don't suppose you know total number of tests done to date? Know they used provide it odd time but haven't heard latest figure in a while.
Heard someone on radio earlier make good point that age profile has gone down due to in part anyone with suspected covid being hospitalised being tested at start along with more severe cases. WHO saying people in 20s/30s/40s now driving it but hopefully milder cases. Of course still need to protect vulernanle and older people. But with people in Kildare, Laois and Offaly getting tested because could be asymptomatic. Plus people in age may be more likely to be working in general and then in meat plants and working in healthcare. And socialising more too of course.

Be interesting to see how many of those 168 swabs will be included in today's and tomorrows case numbers. Last week most swabs was all added in especially last Thursday and Saturday when near 300 cases was reported.

I wondered the same tbh, the government plane that takes em there flew over my house today (under baldonnell flight path) and I hadn't seen or heard it since it used to make the frequent trips when we were very publicly using the labs. Could be just going for a spin all the same.

Over 22 million reported cases worldwide (with 5 million added since August 1st).

Around 1/4 million new cases being added every day.

Over 3/4 million reported deaths and good evidence that the pandemic is getting worse.

Yet we have the deluded dumb right wing 'flu bros' still trying to justify the inane ramblings of Trump and Bolsonaro !

    Unbelievable !!!

You're on intellectual autopilot Mr. Bank. I could go to a newsagent down the road, purchase a newspaper, and I would know all your opinions.

You are instructed by the media to mistrust certain leaders (Trump, Bolsonaro Putin, Johnson etc.) and trust the rest. You should mistrust all of them and all the information coming your way and do your own thinking.

Usual us about 4 / 5k a day even lower and then they have these spikes which makes me think german lab numbers. If they can do 10,000 a day why are people complaining for waiting so long for results.

259 postive swabs in last 48hrs. 122 cases announced

137 outstanding / unaccounted for in announced cases. Bit of a backlog there for whatever reason.

There was a decent crowd allowed in for the world snooker final in Sheffield the last day and that was indoors.

Different jurisdiction granted but hard to make head or tail of the decision making process at the moment.

I find this very frustrating. I don't think they're being sensible at all, if you take away all activities from people you won't get compliance. They should be doing whatever they can to encourage outdoor, relatively safe activities as that will reduce the amount of indoor activities people do. Instead they're being idealistic and assuming people will just sit at home not socialising. That won't happen, they need to encourage safe alternatives where possible.

Clearly the notion of evidence based approach has been thrown right out the window.

Majority of cases coming from clusters of tightly packed food processing factory workers many of whom live in cramped accommodation outside of work. Makes lots of sense to ban the handful of supporters at sports matches in parts of the country that are effectively covid free.

They are going to start losing people if they carry on with this ****e.

Absolutely baffling. The decision making process is all over the place.

If they had anything to back up clusters being found at sporting events with 200 people outdoors then fair enough but the 200 includes players, media etc so there's only 50 odd fans in at matches be it GAA or league of Ireland, so it just doesn't make sense.

OK, then I'm not sure where the original figures came from :D

I'm only getting somewhere between 150 and 200 positive swabs between 16th & 17th. 15,900 tests done with a positive rate between 0.9% and 1.3%

Which would leave us with a shortfall of 30-80.

I'm expecting numbers in and around 50 new cases again today.

If not, then I give up.

1 in three people who are sick test negative with PCR test.
That's pretty shocking and leads to lots of spreading I guess.
Not sure on differences between tests in different countries.

Baffling decision if its been taken.

Glynn said only 2 weeks ago they had no concern about outdoor sporting events and that the 200 at a match wasn't an issue as it was low risk

That is part of a pilot project by the UK government to trial limited public gatherings at sporting and other events. In fact there were limited numbers of fans allowed into the Crucible on the first day of the World Championship at the end of July but that policy was halted after there was a spike in new cases and was only reintroduced at the weekend.

According to a source, it is understood that 22 workers at a meat-packing facility in Kildare, who all share a two-bedroom house in nearby Sallins, caught the virus while attending an under-12s camogie game in the town
