If it makes you feel less judgemental....when it originally came out that he had been texting her (and other women) he vowed live on air to not contact any women behind his wife's back ever again, and then 5 years later he got back in contact with that main woman looking to meet her in a hotel (i think).... so.... take from that what you will.
