Cash for ash the sequel, will Varadkar side with Arlene or tip his hat to Poots
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-55279337

He best not say too much. He has a controversial history with wind farms himself between to trick he pulled for Trump's Doonbeg planning permission quash. Then there's this nugget on the Galway wind farm that ran away while he was Taoiseach.

"In 2008, the EU's Court of Justice criticised the State and ordered that the situation be addressed.

It found Ireland had failed to properly assess the environmental effects the development would have on the locality.

But despite the ruling, no action was taken to rectify the situation.

In November of last year, the Court imposed a €5m fine and stipulated that daily fines of €15,000 would be applied until the State complied with its order.

One year on, the fines continue to accrue.

The €5 million fine for non-compliance with the EU Court ruling was paid in January.

Tonight, the Department of Housing confirmed to RTÉ News that a further €2.7 million was handed over last month. That covered the daily fines incurred between November 2019 and May 2020."

Same question, what has that to do with FG specifically?

    From the link
Concerns over the impact the 70-turbine wind farm has on the local environment have persisted for almost two decades.

During the construction phase in 2003, a massive landslide occurred, pushing thousands of cubic metres of peat down the Slieve Aughty mountains.

FF were in government with the PD's in 2003...

So again, what has this to do with FG?

Fines kicked in under there watch sunshine. Could have acted but didn't the taxpayers left footing the bill. The magic money tree indeed!

Mostly, the ESB as they were the ones in charge of the project.
The project itself was done under the FF/PD watch....

Again, nothing to do with FG.

"David Collins of the South Galway Flood Relief Committee contends the ESB application to An Bord Pleanála showed the company was not serious about resolving the matter.

He said the remedial EIA was of such poor quality that the financial penalties were likely to continue to mount in the coming months.

He's called on the Government to step in and take action to deal with the problems for once and for all."

Looks like people closer to the issue disagree with you there chief!

As in David Collins points the finger of blame at the ESB......?

Well there can certainly be no ambiguity of Varadkar's involvement on behalf of Trump. Following trump's call he wrote the following to Failte Ireland's chief executive Shaun Quinn. Failte Ireland then lodged an objection.

“I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of it but I did commit to asking Fáilte to review the planning applications or development plan for Clare as appropriate with a view to making observations if the agency shared his concerns about the impact on landscapes and tourism,” Mr Varadkar wrote

FG linked to the DUP, Charlie Flanagan taking their side when supposed to be neutral, if this was an SF ministry FG would be flooding every media outlet so its everything to do with FG

There was a similar mess at a wind farm outside Ballybofey last month, original local objections to An Bord Pleanala was the risk of landslides, they passed it anyway, expect similar fines now because and more to come as wind farms are hammered through no matter the objections,

Wonder will there be anymore on the bullying and intimidation of the 19 year old candidate by Jennifer McNeil on the beach? Seems like FG deleted alot of their posts on the matter.

Great to see female politicians calling out misogynist behaviour when it happens. Mairia Cahill has also shown leadership in that respect.

So you celebrate the Omagh bomb every August?
Ms Cahill was a high ranking member of the dissidents who carried it out, is that your praise for her leadership?

So you condone threatening and bulling and are against the GFA?
Do you support all dissidents? What about the shooting of Lyra McKee, you condone that?
That's outrageous. I don't know how you justify that.

So, you want the government or a political party to step in and interfere with the planning process.

I can't keep up. Some of you want this and others give out about it when Leo asks Failte Ireland to write a submission (which is his right) to ABP.

    Guys, at least be consistent!

    Who is Conor O Driscoll?
Is he the new Roman Shorthall, whose every utterance will be copied and parroted here by the usual crew as if they are an authority on something?

    What absolute nonsense.

You can do better than that.

Getting back on topic, which part of Jennifer McNeill as a female TD calling out misogyny did you have problem with?

Is it normal to address issues on a beach in person during a pandemic?

While I won't be voting FG next election unless they sort out at least hosing -I won't vote for SF unless they put away the three-card trick in terms of policies.
They wanted to abolish Property tax and lower taxes-now to be fair that was in February 2020 before covid but they'd want to start having credible policies overall on the economy
They are capable of this-at one election - I think it was 2016 they said they would not abolish USC while FG promised to do so. SF quite rightly said that the billion or so it generated was needed.

Do you have a problem with her calling out misogyny?

Meeting someone outside in a neutral location during the day is far far better during a pandemic than calling round on a cold dark night unannounced to their door and doesn't have the same chilling effect.

It is unsurprising to see Shinners equating a woman calling out misogyny to a man threatening a vulnerable young woman who was calling out homophobia. Not a good look at all.

How was she calling out misogyny I'm sorry? Is this one of these twist the stories things to justify the unjustifiable.

Threatening and bullying a 19 year old boy? ;)

She was completely wrong. If she had genuine issue not motivated by viciousness she would have reported him not blackmailed and threatened him.

Woman stands up against misogyny. Man doesn't like it.

    Quelle surprise.
