Think this is what I will go with for GW1...

    McCarthy
    Gomez
    Robertson
    Saiss
    Ali
    Armstrong
    Salah (C)
    Havertz
    Kane
    Adams
    Werner (V)

    Subs
    Nyland
    Saint Maximin
    Mitchell
    Ayling

Any views? I like spurs fixtures and think Ali could go well early on. Think Werner will settle quickly and not 100% Vinagre will start for Wolves and Saiss did well for me last year....

Could be close to final draft. I have fear already with regards TAA.

    Johnstone (Button)
    James KWP Gomez (Mitchell Shaw)
    Aubameyang Salah Alli ASM Perreira
    Werner Ings (Mitrovic)

    Any views welcome

    And I know I have 3 WBA in squad :O :)

Not sure how nailed Gomez is tbh.....his preseason form has been poor and not great for England either. Matip is fit at the moment as well

Long time since I posted a team here.

    Johnstone/Button
    Robbo, TAA, Doherty, KWP, (Taylor)
Auba, Alli, M Pereira, Saka, (Reed)
    Werner, Wilson (Martial)

1m in bank, have had Vardy in most of the time but leaning towards Martial on bench instead.

Double Liverpool defence not my style but helps reassure on no Pool attacker. It comes down to the fact that even the 2.5/3m from TAA to a 5.0/4.5m defender still doest take Pereira up to a premium mid so probably more sense leaving the 3m in defence. James Rodriguez maybe a temptation but perhaps not from GW1

Wont captain Salah first couple of weeks and can do emergency switch from Auba if it's a disaster.

Flexible in the 5.5 to 6m mids to jump on the bandwagon that emerges there.

A few viable routes to a City player for GW3.

Bit of a different approach this year...

    Ryan
    Nyland

    TAA
    Lamptey
    Robertson
    Walker-Peters
    Laporte

    Salah(VC)
    St. Maximin
    Yarmolenko
    Auba (C)
    Gordon

    Nketiah
    Kane
    Davis

Am i overspending in defense and lacking midfield

    Mccarthy (nyland)
Dotherty Egan TAA (ayling and bernardo)
    Soucek Havertz Bergwijn AUBU (foden)
    Vardy (c) Wilson Ings

To the people who are banking players for GW2. you have to ask yourselves do you think another player will score 4 points or more in GW1. If so, it's worth a hit.

Bergwijn isn't nailed and you'll have to drop either 1 mid or forward each GW due to formation restrictions, so your bench is too strong. I'd recommend getting a 4.5m fodder in for Bergwijn and upgrading your midfield. Your distribution of funds seems fine to me aside from that.

4 points more than the player you start for the benched blank player.

Nobody is going with 10 players here.

Math taking a serious hit here lol  I mean't to say 6.

I think someone like Werner over Martial is a gamble many would consider for example, before taking a hit to Martial.

Also, if they only score 6 more then you only break even on a hit, so gain nothing. You'd want the placeholder premium player to hit a decent haul to make gains from booking the transfer.

Im usually a hit taker. And a lot of my plans were around Vardy with a switch to Martial. Its just a fear of too many booked transfers. May switch back yet.

It leaves me starting KWP who has a solid chance of a return vs Palace.

May well want to take a hit anyway to ride a bandwagon or 2. Having Martial or similar sitting ready to go will give a lot of flexibility heading into GW2.

How is this team folks. Really going to give fpl a crack this season after my big sky win last season.

    Ryan
    Vvd Trent Egan
    Salah auba Alli saint-maximan pereira
    Mitrovic Werner

    Martin ailing walker peters Davis.

    Gordon

    Nketiah
    Kane
    Davis

I like your team, v different. I'd be wary on Laporte though given he tested positive for Covid. Unsure whether he'll be definitely starting GW2. Nice team overall.

I like this team too. Carrying Laporte on your bench could be a nice plan. Nobody not on wildcard will be using transfers to bring in City defs.

    Love Nketiah.

Think there are better options than Yarmolenko though? And Gordon is a mirage IMO. Slightly higher potential ceiling than other 4.5s but much higher gametime risk. Will he get any at all with all their signings? There are 2 to 3 point merchants at 4.5 that are nailed, that's as good as it gets I fear.

Do we expect Ryan to be a better performer than McCarthy?

I'd also expect Son to outscore Ali

Yeah I'd take Ake over Laporte. Good goal threat

    ____________ Rodak

    _______James----TAA----Davies

    ST.Max----Salah----Alli----Auba

    Bamford---Ings---Werner

    Button-Vinagre--Anguissa--Mitchell

    Thats where i currently am

Auba become (sterling Debryune) GW 3

    James becomes Chillwell most likely

    Alli becomes Pulisic most likely

Yarmolenko hasn't played a lot because of injuries. But when he's fit, he plays, and he scores as well. He played the last 8 games after the restart, scoring in two. Moyes said he was going nowhere this summer, so if you're not allowing your most expensive player to leave, he'll play him til he's crocked again.

Gordon is a gamble. But he just signed a 5 year deal the other week and played the last 8 games of the season. He's far from a certain thing, and a bit of a gamble. Most weeks he'll be on the bench anyway.

If it wasn't for this weird start with not all teams playing the first week, my team would look quite different

    Guaita (4.0)
    TAA Robertson Egan KWP (Johnson)
    Aubameyang Salah Son Bowen (4.5)
    Adams Wilson (Wood)
    • GK - Guaita has been my set and forget when available for a few years now.
    • DEF - Double Pool at the back, with Egan (SU have lovely opening fixtures). KWP may become Saliba pending injury news. Egan may become James.
    • MID - Can't be without KDB so will get him in for Aubamyang after GW2 (generating .5m). At that point will have 7m to replace Bowen (my wildcard) with whoever is appealing at that stage.
    • FWD - Wood blanks GW1, he'll come in for GW2 and will play 3-4-3 from then on.

No premium forward makes it tough to jump on anyone who becomes a must-have.
No United or Chelsea players (possibly Bowen - Greenwood), I want to see how they all settle down before getting them (United with awful form, Chelsea with so many new signings).

I like that team, I think Spurs have a game every 3 days or something is the only thing if you are planning on holding Son. Although he's fit as a fiddle he might play most of them anyway

Slight tweaks but think I'm close, will keep an eye on the press conferences and change the 4.0 / 4.5 subs

    | McCarthy | (4.0) |
    | TAA | Robertson | KWP | Taylor | (4.0) |
    | Mane | Auba | Havertz | Saka | (4.5) |
    | Adams | Mitro | Werner |

Auba to city premium gameweek 3 like everyone else
Possibly Mane to Bruno to free up funds to improve Adams or Mitro, not sure yet but nice to have options :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,770 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Any glaring mistakes or weakness

    McCarthy

RObbo, Tierny , James , Mitchell (Egan can't decide )

    PEA ,Traore, Saka, Salah

    Wilson , Werner

Subs : De Gea Romeu ,Egan ,Brewster

I'll swap Wilson for Martial next weekend

Wow. One of the better teams I’ve seen.

Think you’ll want to upgrade Mitrovic and especially Adams in due course but they’re great options to start with. And looks like you already have plans for that.

You’re very well placed if Brewster moves at some stage too.

IMO, DDG isn't a great choice, you're spending too much on your GK's. I would spend 9.0 max.

I'm not confident on SHU being the same as last year with Henderson gone so will be waiting on that one.

Brewster is a great choice if he moves, otherwise he's taking up a 3rd Liverpool spot for you.

I'm torn on Liverpool double defence, I've had them in some drafts and left TAA just in others. I think it's a great idea, I'm just not sold in the opening GW's.

Saka could be a great choice and toying with him too, again just not sold on doubling up with Auba and double Arsenal midfield.

    Son.

    Really struggling this year

    McCarthy, Nyland

    TAA, Robbo, Davies, Shaw, Taylor

    Salah, Auba, Ali, Soucek, ASM

    Mitro, Werner, Davies

    Key Considerations
    • Take an extra million (or more) out of the defense and upgrade Ali to Son
    • Downgrade Soucek to 4.5m
    • ASM/Mitro vs Wilson/Armstrong

Would love any advice - it feels very very template - and a bit afriad of Mitro dropping like a stone!

    Son for me. Nailed too.

Havertz no guarantee to start GW1. New to the Prem, I think he'll be class but might take a bit of settling in.

    Son over Alli. No contest.

I like Soucek but only if he’s available for GW 1.

Last one is tougher but Luiz is out injured now so that possibly strengthens the Mitrovic pick.
