Didn't know whether to post this here in the humanities forum but think it relates to modern day issues. With the introduction of contraception in the 20th century and the advent of capitalist societies, human beings are like no other animal.

In the animal kindgom and even for humans up until recently, evolution favored physically strong animals that had a high sex drive. Those who didn't have these traits simply didn't pass on their genes or made less children.

Today, the opposite is the case. Our evolutionary impulses no work against us. People who would ordinarily be the most fit to raise children and provide for them financially reproduce less because of the financial cost to themselves as well as some sort of moral imperative (climate change). Rich people use condoms and make less babies

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those who are least capable of raising kids, less able to provide for them financially and less likely to use contraception to prevent more kids during sex are having them like candy. You can see this as a reason for the poverty cycle. In The West, we incentivise people like these thus furthering the problem.

So when birth rates from wealthy western nations go down and birth rates from poor, third world nations continue to climb, what will happen in 50 to 100 years?

If you're gonna invoke Idiocracy, it in no way had anything to do with Third World Countries. We have our own feckless idiots spilling babies out yearly.

Yep. We decided this year there is no way we're risking bringing a lovely healthy intelligent child into the absolute sh!tshow that's coming down the line.

Sum it up with the 5 Es: environment, economy and eventual emigration epocalypse
