hi, I've a pc, about 5 years old, I've cleaned the duct out, but the fans are runnings 100%. I'm wondering what I can do to fix it. THey didn't used to do this. I googledthe issue and someone recommeded HWinfo , but I can't interpet the info.

I'm wondering what i should do next?

What's the make & model of your motherboard? Usually you can usually set them to stay at about 25% in the BIOS unless the temps spike.

Download and run CCleaner to get rid of old programs, junk etc.
You may also need Defraggler to defragment the system

Thnaks I did that with no improvement.

The fan is running 100% before I even log into Windows.

CPU is running at 60% just running a single tab of chrome.

I've the computer a good few years. IS it possible it's something like the termal paste needing replacement? That the CPU isn't getting cooled properly?

What process is using the high CPU? I've had a problem with a Nvidia process hogging the processor since the latest (yet another) new driver was installed.

    30% is Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry
Python is between 5 and 25% even though I'm not using it?
    10% SQL
    Antimalware 5%

I'd investigate the software end of it first. Is there an update trying to install? What sub processes are beneath the telemetry process?

Have you tried killing the processes?

I would run a LiveUSB of Linux on it, and if the fans behave then you know for sure it is not the hardware.

    That's a great suggestion.

Could be a malfunctioning sensor if it's an older machine.

Possibly a mining script running from your browser

I installed an update yesterday and the problem persists.

I killed all the processes and cpu usage still remained nearly 100% and the fan at 100%.

And I've disabled start up apps.

Thanks. Ran both of these and nothing turned up.

    Possibly.

I'll get a usb and try this.

Just find it so odd that the computer is running at nearly 100% load when its idle.

I ran malwarebytes, and also disabled some Microsoft w10 services, amongst a couple of other things. Now the PC is running quiet at normal CPU usage for the first time in weeks. So I'm not sure what exactly did the trick!

I would reapply thermal paste on the CPU/GPU.

Those services could be needed by the system. Do you know which ones you disabled?
Try start activating the services again, one per day or so.
