Spurs looked tired from the last night. I know he said its for philosophers but the one advantage of possession is that you save your legs a bit when you are not chasing the opponent most of the game. Hojbjerg was great at Anfield but completely anonymous today.

Or maybe he's been rested. Not every decision Jose makes is out of spite, as much as many people seem to think.

Utd will win this 45 - 0 if they keep this rate up.

    Lol

Ole was being ridiculed on twitter by Man U fans for the team he named this score line shows why he the manager of Man U.

He is laying some great foundations there he just needs to be given time to build on them.

    United and Liverpool title race?

If United keep up the away form and sort out the home form then yes but realistically, no

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Leeds are mad.

Bielsa must know his style plays into Ole's but he just doesn't give a shít.

    Stupid or admirable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,191 ✭✭✭✭Shanotheslayer

    Some battle for top 4

Leicester Everton United City Spurs Soton
Chelsea battling it out for 3 places

Assuming all teams win their game in hand be 5 points between them

Was it admirable when Pep was getting rolled in the CL because of the same reason?

Utd will finish at least 20 pts behind Liverpool, so compared to last year then yea they are in a title race

    I'm a Liverpool fan, and I'd be astounded if it's 20 points.

Utd's front line, and particularly Bruno, are too good for it to be that much. Their CBs will fúck them out of a big title push in the end though IMO.

This could be really fúcking damaging to Leeds.

Bielsa is Keggy Keggan with worse players.

    Leeds are an undisciplined rabble.

I'm still baffled how Bielsa was shortlisted for FIFA mens coach of the year.

I like him but he's not at that level with Leeds.

    Leeds are an undisciplined rabble.

This 'win your one on one duel' tactic all over the pitch just doesn't not work against compact teams who break mega quickly like Utd - who are one of the best couple of teams in the league at doing it.

    This is beyond kamikaze.

And rightly so, especially for the Leeds fans with their "we deserve to be in the premiership" nonsense at the start of the season

Mourinho is watching this with his trousers around his ankles. Leeds have to play Spurs twice and they're going to get murdered

    I agree.

The team that finishes 7th and 15th in the Championship deserve to be in Premier League, not the team that wins it...

I still think this Leeds will score 3 more.

Back where they belong as their fans like to say, you earn your place and you've to maintain it

I dont see it either. Getting Leeds promoted was hardly a massive thing. Yeah it took them a decade and a half, but they're a big club with big support. Taking so long was a failure on the clubs part more than a huge victory when it eventually happened.

Leeds fans seem fairly entrenched in the thinking that if anyone has one of those "name your 20 team premier league " discussions, that they are automatically one of those 20 in everyone's lists.

And they've earned it. And considering the resources they should have been up there, dreadful, dreadful management meant they werent

Yeah fifa shortlist is a stretch, but he took a midtable championship side to comfortable league winners so yeah it would be a massive thing. Bare in mind that it's not like he brought in a rake of new players and did it, it was largely the same players that were awful in the seasons prior he did it with

I see parallels between Leeds right now and the Republic of Ireland during Trappatoni's time. Managers both with a rigid tactical approach hoping to coax a reasonable level of performance from a bunch of journeymen. It has worked in both instances but there is only so much you can achieve in such circumstances. The Leeds players will be the least talented, by a long distance, Bielsa has ever worked with. If Pat Bamford is your best available striker you have problems.

Not a dive that, but James’ reputation for the same has earned him that yellow card.

Thought that was a penalty. Cooper's forearm comes across as catches him on the throat.

It was outside the box though. Should have been a free alright

That was utterly shameful defending all round from Leeds.

This is impressive by Man Utd by any standards. They can get1 or 2 more if they want it.

Maybe moreso like mayo last night, stupid wayward passes and getting punished

BielsaBall being well and truly shown up here. Leeds will be fine and still have a decent season, but it just shows the complete lack of variation and tactical stubbornness of Bielsa and why his teams generally don’t win trophies.

Leeds are the perfect team for them, totally playing into their hands. You couldn't create a better team for a counter-attacking side to play.

Spurs will run up a similar result against them.

If It stays like this Leeds will become the second team to lose 6-1 at Old Trafford this season :D

Was it admirable when Pep was getting rolled in the CL because of the same reason?

Is Pep not the opposite though? In that his European downfalls tend to come from him changing tactics and going more conservative instead of going out to dictate play, commit men forward, and demolish the opposition as they've done in the league.

He talked about it years ago in 'Pep Confidential' in relation to one of his Bayern losses in Europe (4-0 to Real) - where his players told him to just let them do their thing, and he trusted them, and they lost. So since then he's tended to overthink in Europe and play more tactically and less fluidly. Against Lyon last year it looked like they didn't know what to do, playing possession ball for the sake of possession in midfield, without properly committing men forward to blow them away, but equally leaving space behind that midfield line for pacey runners. They had the negatives of attacking football, without the positives.

As far as Leeds go, I think a huge part comes down to expectation. They want to stay up, and anything else is a bonus - playing "their way" week in week out is pretty certain to achieve that, given that they're already 7 points clear of relegation. Perhaps at this stage of their development its just easier for the players to play one way ratehr than overcomplicating things, fairly safe in the knowledge that it'll get the job done come May. They'll lose some games like today, but they'll also win some big high profile ones, and collect plenty of points off mid and lower table teams.
