Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are England really so bad that they are capping Tyrone Mings at international level.... Guy is a very poor player, appears to have zero composure, has been falling over his own feet throughout the first half, and gets involved with Zaha twice to gain 2 yellow cards and an early bath before Half time.

He has too much composure! Can be too relaxed with the ball.

Relaxed or lazy? Seems to always be in the wrong position, has athletic ability that can sometimes get him out of trouble, but seems to have a poor understanding of the game. Just a poor player IMHO.

Interesting contest, if only to see the battle between Grealish and Zaha to see who can 'win' more frees.

Does any ref in the Premier League watch matches and realise that that Grealish pushing the ball past a player, running into that player and throwing himself to the ground happens again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, every game, every week, every season. Nothing has changed in his career. It's not a free, it certainly isn't a booking, but as long as he keeps benefiting from it, he will do it.

Can't help but notice that Liverpool have been given a really great schedule over the Christmas period. They had more than a week off before they play tomorrow, then their third game is not until Monday week. 3 games (incl. 2 gimmes) in 9 days.

United play 3 games in 7 days. Tottenham same I think. Most are 3 in 8 days.

PL don't even want to keep it close.

    Rent free

Fulham got away with one there. Penalty imo

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

It ought to be a booking offence because it's so blatant. I thought simulation, as they call it, was punishable by yellow card. You see similar types of incidents numerous times in every game, whether it be players attempting to "engineer" fouls against them or just plain diving. Grealish is by no means the worst offender in that regard.

He's absolutely not a poor player, that is simply wrong. He is probably over praised, he's a good defender who will give you a dodgy moment or 2 a game.

Those players should get out of his way.

Poor may be harsh, OK, but for an EPL player he's very ordinary. Error prone really, makes poor decisions, and overpraised to use your term, or at times Hyped in the media.

Imagine him playing a top side in a knock out game in an international competition, or in say a Champions league quarter final, completely out of his depth.

Its the same with Kane, every single time Kane holds the ball up he falls over and gets a free kick with minimal contact at best, yet refs continue to fall for it. Its mental to watch

    That Arsenal team....jesus.
Chelsea could rip them apart today.

What are you on about? By being in fewer competitions, of course you’re going to get kinder fixtures - that’s the very point I made and something like 13 PL clubs weren’t in the League Cup this week so got a break. It was the complete opposite for Liverpool last year when they were in the World Club Championship & League Cup.

Exactly. Klopp doesn't seem to think like that though as he thinks teams in some competitions should be given a leg up by the TV companies. Could have been Liverpool early kickoff today after their break, with United getting an extra day after Wednesday, instead United have that, along with another 2 games in the next 6 days.

As I said, whingeing about fixtures is silly but it does seem strange that the manager who did the most mouthing in the media and arguments with broadcasters on live TV about the time when fixtures were being selected has come out with the TV stations picking the best schedule for his team.

Whingeing, mouthing etc etc... it's good to vent after a disappointing result isn't it.

Liverpool have defo done well out of the Christmas scheduling there's no denying that but they've been shafted at other times too. All managers moan, Lampard was at it about their schedule compared to ours, Uniteds and Spurs and he has a point.

United have a full extra day over Wolves before they play them next too but then Villa get that benefit before they play United. Liverpool will suffer again at some point.

The only reason it happens is cos maximum exposure of the game in TV is what the money men want. All teams could be playing on the same day with proper scheduling but that's never been in the interests of those money men. Spread the games out so there's games on TV all day every day.

The managers who moan are moaning at the wrong people. The decisions are made by their own club chairmen when the TV deals are done.

On the Christmas schedule some teams win and some lose i remember one season where Liverpool had to play 2 games in less than 48 hours and that was before all games were on tv. It is the hazard now that all games are on tv and well its good to see they are now at least having games kick off at the same time instead of 10 different kick off times.

Mad to think Vardy is 34 next month. Just goes to show the improvements in sports science and training methods these days

I can only commend Vardy for his level of performance but he hasn't had to play that many games in the top flight relatively speaking.

That's a testament to him because he took the smartest decision of his life by ignoring offers late in his career and staying with Leicester on very good money.

Lee Dixon on NBC saying as nicely as he can that the Arsenal players a just sh1t and can't play the style of football Arteta wants.

Is Roy Keane in the studio? He liked McTominays hair cut so we need his opinion on Reece James one!

    Penalty as I type!!

Dive and a yellow card for me.

    Penalty given and Arsenal score.

Dive and a yellow card for me.

Contact at the left knee. Personally I think it wasn't enough for the foul, but VAR obviously felt the minimal contact was enough.

Lacazette has been moving around the pitch like a rusty ol tractor lately but he puts that away. Chelsea for a team playing a totally out of form Arsenal have been very poor.

Was Neville as strong about United's various incredibly soft pens?

    "Masterful by Tierney"

FFS, if Lacazette or Werner did it, there's be a different response

Why on earth would you buy one of the most in form central strikers of the past few seasons and stick him on the left.

Abraham is a good player and all, but pulisoc and any of the other wingers either side of werner just seems like it would be a whole lot more dangerous.

Lampard will go down as another in a long line of managers who will get jobs because of their playing fame rather than any serious managerial ability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Abraham is not a top class striker, is a decent player, but not top class. Would do a job for many teams in the EPL, and is OK if Chelsea have 75/80% possession, but when games are tight against top sides he's not good enough.

At what point does Roman get browned off with Frank? Will he be as ruthless with him as he has been with previous managers, or does Frank's playing career save him, because he has done little on the sidelines to earn any real trust from what I've seen.

City could move up from 9th to 4th with a win later against Newcastle.

    Lampard is a fraud.

No cohesion or proper pattern of play in weeks with a squad like that.

    Shameful.

Downplay all he wants, but you cant come in top 4 then spend hundreds of millions to not be classed as title challengers

City might be 9th, but they are Liverpool's main challengers this season. The rest playing for 3rd and 4th

How long before the Chelsea fans turn on Lampard?

Turned on Mourinho, Solari, AVB, Di Matteo, Sarri, Conte etc. in the recent past.

Premier league looking the most boring of big 4 this season, hard to not see Liverpool winning by 10+ again, zero consistency elsewhere for some time now.
