Interesting that Stephen Ireland’s son is included. Didn’t he already line out for England. Anyway good to see.

    Think he's only played U15s or U16s.

Good move for Collins. Probably gets himself a better contract to be back up to Kieffer Moore. Downside for us now is the one striker we have that's playing regularly will now be a back up striker next season.

Who are some of the players on that list to watch out for?

Two lads that are doing very well at underage are Calum Kavanagh and Bosun Lawall. These two would probably be the stand out players in that camp, but as a camp it seems to be just to get a look at lads who are eligible for us. Most are probably English born and never have been in an Irish camp before.

Kavanagh was mostly playing for Boros U18s and plays across the front three or behind the striker. Moved to the U23s last month and kept up his good form.

Bosun Lawall plays with Watford's U23s, and won their academy player of the year this season. Troy Deeney was talking him up during the week. Plays in midfield but can also play in defence.

Zak Gilsenan is the young lad that was at Barca and Liverpool. Doing very well for Blackburn's U18s this season. Plays mostly on the wings, but is probably going to line out for Australia at international if he's good enough.

Ola Ibrahim was on the bench for Derby in their league cup game against Preston this season, but has mostly been playing with their U18s this season. Though given Derby are ****ed financially you might see academy players being promoted faster if they have to sell players.

If it's because of his dad, then that's a bit harsh. He deserves to be judged as an individual.

Unfortunately for the young lad he'll be judged because of who his dad is. If he does play for England it will be because he's good enough and has basically grown up in England all his life. Not because his dad had issues with us.

2 goals and 2 assists for him today anyway. Seems a player. Bearing in mind he's only 17

Well his dad feels hard done by by Ireland from what I understand and he grew up in England so his link to Ireland is one that's likely a bit bitter. I'd say it's reasonable enough to say he'll go england of he can

It would be some hit of karma (or whatever the expression is for payback for all the players in the 80s forward we took off them) if Liam delap and young Ireland end up playing together for England.

    Where you seeing that?

By all accounts he's a decent player. Didn't play much for Stoke this season as he was at a number of clubs training for the first half of the season and even played an U18s game with West Ham.

Can't think of many forwards in the 80s who were English born and played for Ireland. Aldridge and Cascarino?

Why would it be karma? Delap is English and Ireland would have more affiliation towards England since he's lived their nearly all his life.

Home based training camp begins June 4th.

Anthony Scully started tonight's play off first leg win against Sunderland. Lincoln won two nil but Scully had no contributions to either goal. Played wide right and by all accounts he had a good game and put in a shift, especially when getting back to defend. Pity the League One play offs are on two days after the training camp in Spain starts. Scully fully deserved to be there, unless those in the play off finals will fly out after their games.

Stephen Kenny is facing up to the prospect of being without seven squad regulars for his summer training camp and friendlies with Andorra and Hungary.

But that should open the door for fresh faces to make an impression with St Mirren’s Jamie McGrath in line for a first call-up when Kenny names his squad next Monday.

Callum O’Dowda (Bristol City) and Kevin Long (Burnley) are definitely out of the equation with long-term injuries, while Robbie Brady (Burnley) is a major doubt due to his ongoing fitness issues.

The participation of Ciarán Clark (Newcastle), Jeff Hendrick (Newcastle), Enda Stevens (Sheffield United) and Alan Browne (Preston) is in doubt because of niggling issues that require rest, especially as the off-season was curtailed last year due to the quick turnaround.

Hendrick's niggling issue must be splinters in his arse because he's spent nearly all his time on the bench, and only played three minutes of football since the international break.

No issue with most of them missing the camp. We know what they can do.

    Yeah no great shame to see them missing this camp, hard to think of too many players who might be worth a look at, just thinking of players who seem to be on the fringes but might be worth a look;

    Anthony Scully
    Jamie McGrath
    Danny McNamara
    Olamide Shodipo
    Mark Sykes
    Michael Duffy
    Jack Taylor
    Marcus Harness

All players who'd nearly be more suited to a B team but players that might be worth a look, it's really been a terrible year for many of our players. Was thinking earlier of what players could do with a move over the summer and the reality is nearly all of them apart from a handful.

Jason Knight should be top of that list now that another Derby takeover is dead in the water, which was no shocker.

Cullen starting for Anderlecht. If they win, it almost certainly guarantees European football.

They're already guaranteed European football either way as 4th gets into the new Europa Conference League.

After tonights other result, they're out of contention for 2nd / Champions League football.

But as you said, a win almost guarantees a 3rd placed finish / Europa League spot.
You're right, I remember the Belgian Cup final has already been played, so the Europe spot drops straight to the League.

Seems to be a lot of excitement around Johansson declaring for us. While it's good to have him signed up. I doubt he'll ever be good enough to get a senior cap. Look at Jason Knight who is only two days older than Johansson. Knight has already got 80 senior club and country appearances under his belt, whereas Johansson has done nothing of note. Molumby is only a year ahead of both of them and he's in a similar position. Smallbone already has a few senior PL starts despite having that early season ending injury.

Johansson could be a late bloomer, but as it stands, he's far, far behind our other central midfielders who are similarly aged.

Grasshopper promoted tonight. Will be interesting to see if Conor Ronan stays there next season after recovering from injury.

He should return, be good for him to remain playing regularly with the same club. Might as well be at Grasshopper because he ain't getting it Wolves.

He was having a decent once he broke into the team. They had him playing in a deeper role too as a ball playing six.

Though he might find it hard to break into the team mid way through the season next year. Grasshoppers will strengthen and Wolves will send them a number of players too.

Using Knight as an example is contrary to the norm.

Most 19/20 year olds are not playing first team football for their clubs unless they're out on loan or playing at lower level like League One or Two.

Johansson just turned 20 in February. I dont think anyone on here has seen enough of him, if anything at all, to be able to make an informed opinion as to what kind of level he is at. I know I havent. Last I seen of him was a couple of preseason games for Bayern 3 years ago!

Molumby is 18 months older, he'll be 22 in August. He had just turned 20 when he first went out on loan to Millwall. Had barely kicked a ball in senior football before that. Think a few minutes in the League Cup the year before. His progressed has stalled after an indifferent loan at Preston this year.

Josh Cullen was in a similar situation at 20. Had clocked up minutes in Europa League qualifiers and made a single injury time sub appearance in the PL for West Ham before being sent out on loan to League One. He did'nt really make a name for himself until 22/23.

Connor Coventry is in the same boat as Cullen now at West Ham. Hes 21 and hasn't played more than a few mintues here and there in Cup games. Had few games in an unsuccessful loan spell at Lincoln second half of last season.

Its way too early to know or make judgement at this point in time ...You could very well be right.

Or he could hit the ground running in preseason and catch his managers eye and be involved with Sevilla next season ...or they might have plans to ship him out on loan or perhaps even permanently.

Would agree with that. Way to early to know if Johansson will make it at the top level as a pro yet. But for me my big take watching that interview was here was a foreign born player who really wants to play for Ireland. He is proud of his Swedish and Luxembourg heritage but sees himself as Irish and that is exactly who I want in the green if they are not born in Ireland. Hope it all works out and he turns out to be a big player for us in the future.

Poor defending from Scully for the second goal. Has to do better to prevent the cross from McGeady. Also subbed off at half time.

Wasn't enough, Sunderland in League 1 for another season. McGeady is out of contract and there's apparently Championship interest in him for next season.

I read yesterday McGeady had to waive his right to an automatic 1 year contract extension if he wanted to play today. It was to trigger if he played 30 games and the club were prepared to leave him out. So theres no way they were keeping him even if they had won promotion. Probably on fairly big wages.

19k a week apparently, and I'd believe it.

Lee O'Connor starting at RB in today's game. Tranmere are 2-1 down from the first league. Hopefully can make it the fourth Irish player to make it to next weekends finals.

Seamus Coleman not fit enough to play today for Everton, would have been his 300th league appearance for them. Picked up an injury against Wolves mid week, which was his 350th appearance in all competitions for Everton. And they only paid 60k for him.
