Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stephen Ireland's son on trial with Borrusia Dortmund at the moment. English u15/u16 capped though so wouldn't be expecting him to play with Ireland

Speaking of McGuinness, I would imagine he'll go the way of Grealish/Rice. Can't see him playing senior with Ireland if turns out to be any way good

Kwame Ampadu was another former Irish international who's son chose not to play for Ireland.

Parrott starting for Millwall v Burnley tonight having finally recovered from his pre season injury.

Parrott taken off at half time, what happened there? Maybe he needed more recovery time?

Yeah see some mention that he didn't look fit enough and could be whipped at half time.

That's poor form, if he wasn't fit why was he started

Low stakes game to get him 45 minutes, probably no harm.

Well it looks like he’s injured again so not well handled there perhaps.

Confirmed by Rowett that Parrott picked up an ankle injury in the first half.

Surely a big doubt now for the game against Italy next month.

So it will be quite a hectic period next year. 3 World Cup Qualifiers in March and then 3 more in August/September. If Ireland don't qualify for the Euros, we will only be playing a couple of friendlies next summer. as it will be used for warm-ups for the teams that qualify for the Euros.

Back to 5 subs as well in all European Competitions.

Yeah, quite a shame... does he get injured a lot? I've not tracked his game time too closely, but it feels like I hear about him getting injured, or being injured, quite often.

Massive improvement needed from September's games.

Hourihane on the bench for Villa.

Needs to leave Liverpool. Lads wasting his time if he's playing the mickey mouse EFL tophy and sitting on the bench for the mickey mouse EFL cup game.

Yeh seems so. Invite him along to the seniors and see whathe does. If he's not interested fair enough but if he doesnt make it with England then we shouldnt consider him. Leave him off. Like Banford.

Fantastic result for Dundalk tonight. The Faroes side they now face hammered Tblisi this evening but with the game being at home you'd give them every chance.

Yes, he's missed a lot of game time over the past year with injury. Hopefully he wont turn into the new 'sicknote' Darren Anderton!

Ryan Nolan has left SS Arezzo 12 months into a three year contract. Article last month linking him with a move to England, particularly Leicester.

Why would he go through the hassle at 17 of doing the paperwork to switch after he's just scored a belter on his City debut, and when he had no interest in a game where you don't even have to be Irish to play in while he was still at Derby County.

He has a serious agent i'll give him that. Hes not going to Leicester i'd be certain of that

You'd think a Faroes Island side should be a doddle for an Irish side and they'd not be relying on Home pitch advantage to get the job done. The country should be setting it's sights higher, but a qualification for the Europa Group stage would do the coefficient no harm at all.

Faroes are decent by all accounts.

What are you basing that on? As it seems you have just plucked it out of the air based on where they are from.

The population. The legacy. Jeez I would have thought it's fairly obvious. Ireland should aim to have a superior league than the Faroe islands. Radical thought.

The Faroes won't be in competition with the GAA for players though. In a domestic sense the GAA is king and Soccer is in second place.

I know nothing about the Faroes side but Brian Kerr rates them. He said it would be a challenge for Dundalk so lets see. It would be a huge injection if they could qualify and get a few big names over.

Ah here, using the GAA is a lazy excuse. The faroes have a population of 49,000. Ireland has a bigger pool of people playing football/soccer than their entire population.

At least Molumby is making the bench now. Hope it's not a once off.
It'll be a shame if he doesn't get any first team action this season after such regular game time last year

FFS you have Dundalk bet already. I think they will progress but this veil of ignorance and writing off a team because they aren't a traditional footballing powerhouse, like ourselves LOL is getting tiring.

    Precisely tbh.

Lazy as **** to barge in and make pronouncement about whether Dundalk should or shouldn't progress.

The relative progress of Faroes national tram from absolute cannon fodder losing Evey game by 5 or more goals to a competitive outfit who can get the odd result would be a better reflection of their current position.

Considering the other option seems to be O'Dowda who hasn't even featured in a Bristol squad so far you'd have to think Robinson has done himself no harm. Is he playing up front or on the wing for West Brom?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Great to see players like Robinson, Connolly, O'Shea, Egan, Stevens, Coleman, Doherty and more getting game time in the prem this season.

Wasn't so long ago you could count the Irish Premier league regular starters on one hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,508 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I hope Robinson can kick on now, I got excited when he scored at the Bridge this time last season but never scored a prem goal again and was off on loan to the Championship very quickly.

Dunne and Long start again for Burnley.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,989 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Interesting to see what defenders make it into the squad as back up when the squad gets announced. Lenihan was one of the three named for last month's fixtures, with O'Shea getting a late call up but since then Dunne and Long have been starting for Burnley and O'Shea has kept his place in West Broms starting XI and brings versatility with him.

Thiago Silva made Calum Robinson look like a world beater and he cannot hit a barn door for Ireland.
    Couldn't make it up.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.
