They've all been very quiet since the reported row around the latest restrictions at the start of the week
They seem to have completely forgotten the rule of collective cabinet responsibility. Hmm.
They'd want to perhaps stop having one eye on superfluous popularity polls and keep both eyes on the safety and wellbeing of the people of this country.

When I heard who organised it I laughed, Donie Cassidy. Know as Phoney Donie in Westmeath.

First they came for the socialists...

So this is the advantage of being an Independent instead of a member of party. Grealish has no-one to answer to on his attendance at this event. As a public rep, he is no better than Calleary for attending this and should go as well.

Phil Hogan has the brassest neck of all, but could face scrutiny of how he travelled to the event from Brussels - times, isolation etc.

What everyone is waiting for now is camera footage to emerge - think of the damage at 20 second clip did to Berlin Bar - imagine cctv leaking, or camera phone footage of the lads on a session at 2am singing Sweet Caroline

Station house hotel summer staff could get a nice few quid off a number of media outlets if they had any images or videos

I wonder will Jerry Buttimer be the next to go down on a sword?

That would really be a matter for those who elected him to decide.

Be mindful Calleary hasn't resigned his seat, only as minister.

The honourable thing in Irish politics, there is no honour in what goes on here...

Since when has any politician cared about the people.?

Norma Foley saying it's up to others involved to look at themselves and maybe follow Calleary's example (of resigning quickly)

her tone was all wrong. there is nothing "honourable" about resigning when you are caught out as a self-serving hypocrite.

Shouldn't the hotel be the subject of a health and safety investigation also?
It looks like they were in breach of regs.

Funny thing in political circles, that is exactly what's called honourable!
The pain endured by the 'honourable' being the perks and stature the poor craetur had to give up.

Resigned and not sacked by MM. Really weak leadership. He's having a nightmare.

I am stiill in shock at how stupid they have been. Can anyone else remember a case of such mass political suicide?

I would say he was told to resign, which is getting sacked.

I would say that FG and Leo would love to go back to the country given the FF fiascos, but don't want to be accused of bringing down the Government in the middle of the pandemic.

Phil Hogan has been around the block too long to know if he keeps the head down now and says nothing the tide will eventually pass

Thats the problem we accept this from our politicians.
The one good thing about what happened recently is our politicians have lost credibility so the whole political landscape is changing.

What are SF saying? likely nothing as they do not want election...

It's looking likely Hogan attended and didn't isolate for 2 weeks on return from Brussels. He's put numerous members of the staff working at the event as well as other hotel guests in direct danger of the virus and needs removal from his position in Europe if proven true.

Won't happen. Not with Leo at the helm. The man lives by polls and the status of his personal profile. Although you're right, the well-being of the people is not generally something that features to any great degree in Irish politics unfortunately.

RTE R1 name-checking Hogan there just now, asking if he should be another who should resign.

Jerry Buttimer, Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, will most likely be the next to go, no option
