It'll be a bigger headache when the solicitors letters start flying over it. That was a very serious mistake.

You just know that there are a load of people, whose kids were never harmed by it, who are on to their solicitors this morning looking to pre-finance their next jaunt to Spain or to part finance their new Range Rover Sport.

It affected a very small number of people, it shouldn't have happened, but let's not make it into another free for all.

There's a mother on Pat Kenny now about it.

Department of Ed legal team are going to be glued to the radio.

Dermot Bannon was on .... again.

He must have been floating around the rte canteen.....again.

This woman's 88 years old and sounds like she's flying it. :pac:

    Is this a joke?

    Is this a joke?

    Not at all.

I believe there quite a lot of sadness and loneliness among the older generation because all their social events are cancelled. Theres going to be serious side effects.

Absolutely, but the misery p0rn that is churned out by RTE is what I was getting at. Managing to turn a nice story into her crying about loneliness.

Nice to hear ordinary voices on this programme.

Did she say she was raised by the Magdalenes and loved it?

You wont hear that on often.

Yeah, very true! That alone might be worth a report by RTE! Just not in the hands of Joe, he'd manage to twist it into the DeathLine.

Neil McDonnell from ISME sounds like he lives in some fantasy world where all retail outlets are models of public health guidelines...pretty shameless.

    Alison O'Connor again.

Just when I start being able to tolerate her, she makes a reference to the "levels of testosterone" among the decision makers re. the tribunal. She just ends up making a potentially valid point sound ridiculous.

She is consistently wrong on every observation and prediction and is generally not living in the real world.

Another time overrun of Claire's show. Okay, Ronan Collins is just a music show and it's content isn't quite as important; however there are listeners who switch on for his show. It also delays the broadcast of the Nuacht and The Angelus, which are two important time signals for listeners regardless of if you tune in for them or not. Sloppy, Claire.

Men should be exempt from the TV licence IMO as rte is a sexist man hating organisation

I have given up on the CB show, and on all the other misery porn shows on both RTE and Newsrant.

CB, Jow Dhuffy, just get on my wick. Endless whinging and anyone who has the slightest complaint is allowed free rein.

Dhuffy had a guy on the other day, a gym owner, who was given an hours free publicity to promote the fact that he was going to refuse to close his gym. why the licence payers have to subsidise his breach of regulations is beyond me.

As for Newsrant, “Dr” Screechy Kelly is pontificating her own prejudices day after day. And then we have Pat Kenny harrumphing repeatedly about his own solutions to the problems.

At least with Newsrant we aren’t forced to pay for them, unlike Byrne and Duffy.

I live in England so listening to Irish radio helps me stay connected with home and nice to chat with my folks about, but you're absolutely right that it's wall to wall misery.

The other day, Joe allowed a caller to accuse a chap of grooming children, totally without any kind of merit, twice, and let them speak withouy any kind of moderation.

This week, someone very lightly criticised CB's show and he stopped them immediately, compared them to some nut jobs protesting and cut them off. It's unbelievable.

I fully expect those unchallenged “grooming” comments to result in legal action, and rightly so.

You see I don't even have a problem with somebody coming on and making some sort of sweeping statement about men, but the problem I have is that if the same sweeping statements are made about any other demographic then it is consider an -ism. I'm all for equality, not for preferential treatment.

    Agree with you.

CB is nowhere near as interesting as when Sarah Mc was presenting. It is far too bland now. There was a segment on the other day about the Beauty business. WTAF?

As for Duffy, he is a ghoul and a charlatan, pretending he is a man of the people. The content of most of his shows is abysmal.

Pat Kenny might be a bit of a prat at times, but he is a professional and that is my go to now. I can mute the bits I am not interested in, and as you say PK has to make his show wash its face without license fee contribution.

LBC is my other go to when both RTE and PK are driving me mad. James O'Brien can be ott sometimes, but by God did he nail some Brexiteers back in the early days, not that it made any difference but was fascinating listening. I only mention LBC and JO'B because he is on at the same time as CB and PK.

That's simply not true. The person was critical of Claire Byrnes interview with Leo Varadker re NPHET - Joe corrected the caller by pointing out what Leo said and then had to point out that Claire was not a puppeteer. The individual was not cut off - given enough rope to hang himself would be a truer assessment.

Hi I'm interested in why you think this about Joe Duffy. I think he is fully in command of this show which can sometimes be quite interesting and other times pretty abysmal. I never liked Joe Duffy myself. I also think he has a short fuse. Just interested in what others think of him. No way is he worth the salary and if anybody brings up salaries he labours the point about half gone in tax.

Duffy is a classic social climber. I never could warm to Duffy for some reason. Also he cant take criticism like his idol Gay Byrne couldnt either. I hope he invests his millions better than Gay Byrne. I wonder what he invests in. I had assumed property, but judging by questions he asked Landlords in past shows he gives the impression he knows nothing about it.

I met him a few times, he's a nightmare, an absolute nightmare.
Entitled, snobby (for all his working class bs he spouts) and name-dropping everyone he "knows".

He's made it, and he'll let everyone know about it too.
