    Some other station interrupting?

Turned out it came from whatever studio Ronan was in, which was patched in live for reasons unknown. As errors go that's a pretty sloppy one.

She inferred quite clearly that she was having her colour done before and de used recently to chance the box dye. But as somebody said they probably have an on-site hairdresser in RTÉ that done choose to use.

    What's the 'real story'?

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/how-did-a-remote-mayo-town-become-ireland-s-most-covid-infected-place-1.4465431?mode=amp
"According to one healthcare worker, one premises was overwhelmed by crowds of drinkers. Individuals hired rooms for the night and invited friends to join them and party.

“There was four of five hundred people there,” said this person. “The bar was full, the foyer was full, the back bar was full, the restaurant was full. Very few masks."

At least Claire is giving a reasonably robust grilling of Eamon Ryan, but that wouldn't be hard as his pace is that of a snail.

Eamon is getting an easy ride imho - dreadful interview confirming his dithering approach only matched by weak questioning from Claire.

Claires emotive language about over 70s / Leaving Cert does not help especially when Eamon is supposed to be discussing travel ban.

Claire completely missed that Eamons contradicted his opening statements about the NI border.

Eamon on his day is an excellent speaker but today ,perhaps he doesn't believe what he is saying....

He is certainly contradicting himself. The government have found themselves well behind the curve of public opinion.

Clair does not go for the got ya approach which allowed for a more nuanced answer Pat Kenny is appalling for this.

David Nabarro/WHO non-commit all on type of mask needed. Of course they depend on feedback & science-based evidence, but always slightly behind the curve when it comes to actually making recommendations. The virus doesn't wait around indecision.

He is certainly contradicting himself. The government have found themselves well behind the curve of public opinion.

A survey in November showed 62% in favour of easing restrictions before Christmas and 28% against.

Same survey in January showed 68% opposed the reopening and 28% still thought it was a good idea.*

Then the same people are the first to blame the government. You can't always follow 'public opinion', as it changes with the wind.

*(Can't remember the exact figures, but they were the gist of it).

He said that the WHO have asked the countries who have made surgical masks compulsory to explain their decision.

David Nabarro also said that he wore a fabric mask unless it was not tightly fitting.

Claire talking about 'surprise ' and 'shock' about schools staying closed says a lot about her awareness of the real world.

I think you may have the figures the wrong way around - it was 60% + where in favour of a tighter lockdown in early December reference Claire Byrne live.

Anyhow back to the radio discussion - re David Nabarro - considering how often he had been misquoted I can understand his reluctance to 100% commit to a view.

Schools affect her directly... hence the "shock".

Sorry, but the figures I gave were near enough correct. The figures below are an excellent example of the willingness of humans to forget about their decision making before and event and their unwillingness to accept responsibility for their actions.

That just proves why public health decisions should be taken based on the expert feedback (which said don't open up hospitality and allow home visits) and not what the public thinks...

Donnelly is floundering and should be replaced immediately. Every time I hear him my confidence in the government response is further eroded- bring back Simon Harris.
