Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Plumber Quotes

    Hi

I had a plumber out to look at a few things around my gas boiler, hot water tank, expansion vessel and pump. I have now got the quote back for the work and I just don’t know if it’s good or bad! Or even if it’s all necessary.

Will other plumbers give me a quote over the phone based on what has been identified? I’ve already paid a call out fee to the first guy so don’t really want to be paying out more to get others out just to look.

    Thanks

Why don’t you tell us on here what he quoted and what he quoted for?

Thanks. Wasn’t sure on the etiquette on that.

I have the following setup in 3 bed semi:

    Vokera 25S gas boiler
Joule Cyclone CY200L TWIN 200Lt hot water tank
    Aquasystems ARB18 expansion vessel
    Walrus TQ400 pump
    10 radiators of varying sizes

    I have the following issues:

Drip at the T&P valve (previously resolved by plumber re-inflating the expansion vessel)
Small leak at elbow of heating flow pipe
Pump activating every so often for approx. 5 seconds when no water in use
Pump occasionally not activating when taps turned on
    Drip at external flue

I have been told that the following work is required:

Replacement of potable vessel and addition of second vessel €240 + VAT
    Replacement of 7.0 bar T&P valve €160
Repair/replace 3/4" tec tite 90degree elbow on heating flow pipe €25
Correction of flow and return pipes as currently plumbed in reverse €140
Correction of flue installation and renewal of elbow seals €160
Installation of external 8ltr expansion vessel €120
Installation of auto fill valve and boiler magnetic filter €240

    So over €1,000 before VAT

    What's a call out fee for a quote ?

I've never charged or heard of it down my way in 30 years.

    Pity

Straight away Id run Him. Any clown that fits an auto filling valve in this day and age needs to retrain.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely seek out someone else.

What do you think about all the vessels mentioned? Sounds like 3 are suggested?

And any recommendations for someone in south Dublin?
