No one wants that. That's a very poor strawman argument. There's a reason we have the highest mortgage rates in Europe - we didn't let people 'fall prey' to repossessions and our banks are paying higher rates to borrow money for mortgages as a result.

This narrative that SF are the only party who represent the 'common man' is rubbish. The great thing about SF is you can see what they are like in reality by looking up North.

The majority of people in repossession territory were there because FF cheerled by FG (who wanted more spending) drove us off a cliff.

Now you want to stop them earning money without any safety nets to allow them hold on to their homes. Feck off, was it you that was talking about the transformative power of postwar social democracy.

Strawman indeed.

Jesus some of yas will have a heart attack, getting very worked up.

It's OK I get the jist, anything SF say bad, no matter what Govt do good

So if a tenant stops paying their rent for 6 months or maybe years( who knows with Covid19) you think they should be allowed stay?

Think about what you're suggesting.

Well???????????????????

Link to the majority?

Once again you will come up short.

But you will casually move on to the next lie.

And you lads accuse leo of spin!!

Well???????????????????

Could Sinn Fein use its property portfolio to house those affected - or did they just invest in commercial property - like real socialists?

Well ok, I put the word majority out there without thinking.

The cheap and quick retort is that this is a plea for money for nothing, but it isn't.
These arrangements were put in place for the first lockdown, what made looking after people whose ability to earn their mortgages and livings right then and not if we go into another lockdown?
Why would you expect people to be silent about that? There is a reality out there and this government is not addressing that, it is the opposition's job to pressure them to do that.

That's not what I'm suggesting. If someone can prove their income has been severely hampered by Covid I think either
A. The Govt should pay the rent until the pandemic is over
B. A ban on these people getting evicted.

350 per week, is roughly 1400 a month
A 1 bed apartment in Dundalk is Prov 900 per month, add bills to that and best of luck surviving for a month

What was 'made up' about the comment? It was the truth Truth. You seem to have a huge problem recognising the truth Truth.

Appears SF love making representations to people to abduct and torture citizens.

https://www.pressreader.com/ireland/sunday-independent-ireland/20201011/281556588294435

Par of the course when it comes to SF and Law and Order, its for the other guy, not them.

Well we also the pathetic carnival for the dead thug Bobby Storey. Would you post a link/ picture of the Black n Tan celebration???

Or did you just make it up???

• Registered Users Posts: 14,655 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

There are 'people' involved here and their lives. Have some empathy if not some decency.

Does that stop you from commenting thousands of times when it comes to the Government action here in the south?

Now list property owned by political parties

It's bad alright, but I know for a fact people from Dundalk are going to Newry regularly shopping, get oil etc... I went for a spin up Mourne Mountains yesterday an drove threw Newry on way home and half cars were Southern plates.

Fairways Hotel in Dundalk packed today with D reg cars and Northern number plates

Maybe if you and your mates stopped driving all over the place and leaving your county, we could avoid another lockdown. Be a patriot and stay the **** at home.

Do you know what a carnival is?

Have a bit of human decency Truth, it was a funeral. Maybe not one you would go to but a funeral all the same.
I'm sure there are plenty of voyeuristic ghouls pouring over photos as soon as I post this looking for images of people laughing and smiling.

We get it, you have a stick to beat the shinners with, they got it wrong, but a 'carnival'? FFS.

So no sign of the Tan celebration then?

It wasn't a funeral . It was a pretendy funeral used as an IRA show of strength

Haven't seen decency and Bobby Storey in the same sentence before

The poster said and I quote:

FG would give him a commemoration.

I presume he/she meant 'would if they were let'. They weren't, did you sleep through that disastrous escapade?

The fact you see a commemoration as a celebration says a lot.

Hoist by your own rush to lie and misrepresent a post again Truth.

A pretend funeral haha the funeral Mass was staged? Someone better tell the priest there was nobody in the coffin in the church.

You know there's no pics of the black and tan celebration as the public fairly let the Govt know what they thought about it so they made a u turn
It was headline news for a while in case you missed it

It's generally accepted that the remains of the deceased are required to have a funeral. Otherwise you're just parading around a cemetary, bizarre stuff

I will vote for SF if Pearse gets into government and gives a €300 grant for each suckler cow in the herd. Jesus, that would be enough to persuade even the most bitter FF small farmer.

There was an oration at the republican plot where I presume his ashes will be interred. Fake funeral? FFS lads.

Ex IRA funerals have been done this way for decades.

Storey was a member of the IRA 'nutting squad'. Charming people as even the name would imply.

Storey did that.

We know, we had the GFA since then and thankfully the North's a better place for it.

Would you be so ok about it if members of the dup turned up at the funeral of Johnny Adair?

Just to be clear, the whole entourage took a detour from the church to the crematory to have a bit of a rally in Milltown during a pandemic lockdown, despite the fact there was no burial going on, while the Council kept the Crematorium on pause for them which prevented other families from interring deceased loved ones.

It was frankly bizarre and classless carry on. Acting like royalty to whom the rules dont apply

Yes. They got it wrong. Many have, all over the country.
The crematorium gave their reasoning which seemed ok to me.
Read his funeral notice as most seem not to have done that.
There is no mention of the usual 'burial after etc'

I had a family member who was cremated...the main funeral party were left behind as the crematoriun was not able to handle the crowd.
I can assure you it was a 'funeral' no fakery, sadly.
