Only took Holding 4 fouls to get booked.

Diamond hasn't worked. Would love to see Ole change things for the second part of the first half

Arsenal are dirty enough aren't they the rascals.

Arsenal. Getting more confident and committing more forward but we are looking more dangerous on the break as a result

We are being outplayed but we could easily catch them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭NITRO95

Why the hell wasn't PEA booked for that challenge on Bruno?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,158 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

Big pressure on PP today. He had his best game in some time for us midweek so the expectation is that he will continue, hopefully that's the version we get today and not the more usual one.

    Business as usual so far.

McTominay doesn't seem to know what he's meant to be doing. Game is passing him by.

Can't say anyone is playing well. For us maybe Rashford has been good off what he has got

What I’m wondering is how long they can go with this pressing game. Surely must be energy sapping, hopefully they run out of steam and we get more possession and opportunities.

The Homer Simpson Boxing approach.... nudge em.... nudge em.

Desperate stuff so far. A tactical change is needed, we've been nullified completely.

    Glazers Out!

    Arsenal are very comfortable.

Feels like United are relying on players quality and bits of class to make things happen. Not sure this formation is gonna work today.

Pogba terrible on the left and not pressing/ tracking back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,201 ✭✭✭Man with broke phone

Looks like we are biding our time and saving our energy for something later.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,348 ✭✭✭Quandary

This has been abysmal from Utd

No one is pressing though. Well no United players.

    2 bloody let offs there.

Ah something has to change , Arsenal could be 2 up at this stage.

    I’d take a messy 1-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,201 ✭✭✭Man with broke phone

Shaw lines up against the winger and turns sideways 5 yards away when they cross everytime. Wtf.

    Alot coming from his side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,474 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

    Living dangerously here.
Arteta has predicted how we would set up and pinned us back well.
Not helped by Pogba losing possession so easily

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,940 ✭✭✭Tippex

Playing fred at the bottom of the diamond is stupid missing his energy that little bit further forward. Take mct off and put matic where fred is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,669 ✭✭✭Whatsisname

Why do we look like we're playing in quicksand.

The norm. But continues to be disappointing as I try continuously to be optimistic

If we can get to half time and make some subs we could change the second half

    Up to Ole

Midfield has been cack so far.

They haven't got a foothold in the match at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭NITRO95

Seen this so often from Oles Utd. A great performance followed by absolute ****e

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,517 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Crinklewood

    Fred in a tightrope.

Anyone want a coffee at half time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,201 ✭✭✭Man with broke phone

Again from shaw, cross away lads, pick your best pass, I wont put you off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭KH25

This is fairly rubbish. Too many passes going astray. Arsenal are playing this well.

    Handball me bolox

Ref again after a good ball from Fred to Rashford

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,316 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

Only that Greenwood effort as the only shot so far, on or off target.

Giving the ball away, lots of offsides, not sure what the plan is for the attacking third.

    Wednesday clouded our judgement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭BKtje

To be Fair, Bruno has given the ball away a lot as well. I don't see Pogba being any worse (or better) than him so far.

For me this diamond isn't working. Whether it's personal or shape or both I don't know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,201 ✭✭✭Man with broke phone

Pogba seems to have pushed up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,768 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Some of that woeful early season defending is creeping back in.

Shaw not stopping crosses or putting enough pressure on Willian. Maguire headlessly running into space and Lindeloff and AwB failing to take responsibility for the player between them.

Wake me up on Tuesday for the CL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,940 ✭✭✭Tippex

For me Matic is what makes the diamond tick without him in the bottom of the diamond it just does not work

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,116 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

Some difference in us v them playing out from the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,669 ✭✭✭Whatsisname

Performances like this after the one against Leipzig is exactly why people question Ole as a manager.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

Piss poor half from United. Getting dominated in the midfield and have offered nothing going forward.

McTominay is useless, get him off for Matic and push Fred to the right hand side of the diamond. Fred at CDM is a waste

That was a very poor first half, the best that can be said is that they didn’t score but it was more down to luck and arsenal not taking their chances.

Ole needs to show some managerial acumen and make some changes even to the tactics if not personnel . If he starts as is and things continue on as first half he has to make changes within 10 mins of 2nd half. It really is only a matter of time before arsenal score in this tie,

What's the story with AWB always leaving someone behind him at the back post? No need to mark Aubemyang?

A completely inept first half display.

I won't be surprised to see a 1-0 win for Arsenal in this game. We need a serious kick in the hole here, our league performances are bordering on relegation form.

    Glazers Out!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,348 ✭✭✭Quandary

Lack of width is making it very easy to pen Utd in.

Any goodwill built up from the leipzig win will evaporate unless Ole can make the necessary changes at HT.

Remember him doing it about 4 or 5 times against Brighton, he seems to really struggle to defend against crosses to the back post.

Don't think it's entirely down to capability. They seem less aggressive but their entire team is super condensed. We are doing the opposite probably because our back four got burned so badly against spurs.

Its not surprising Leipzig and PSG showed United no repect and played far to open amd paid the price on the counter
Prem teams this seaaon have realised if you starve United of counter attacking opportunities you can get points

Ole still deserves credit for the champions league games but so far hes had no answer for the tactics team play in Prem games,
They even struggled in large parts in there two wins aginst Brighton and Newcastle

Very clear that playing it out from the back duties have been taken away from Maguire and given to Lindelof.
Shaw was lucky against RBL and lucky on a few occasions today as well, can't wait for Telles to return.
Maguire, DDG and AWB are all susceptible to high pressing.

Definitely need a change early in the second half, we should be dominating Arsenal in midfield. McTom a bit lost in these games.
