Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Reckon this Connacht side are going to put in a better performance than some are expecting. Still think that given the strength of the side and the fact they have something to play for means it will be a Munster win. I reckon Munster by 6

I think the score could be wider but Connacht will show ok nonetheless

People saying this is a strong Munster team is a bit off the mark.
A guy who is 5'9 in the back row.
Probably Munster's 3rd or 4th choice second row pairing.
    3rd choice loose-head.
A centre partnership playing it's second game together. 2nd choice 10.
Daly at FB would be second choice too.

Given the injury profile, understandable, but hardly Munster's first choice.

That's been 5 years you have wanted Aki and Dillane. They turn you down. Too bad. :D

Plus Connacht have been more successful in recent times than Munster :P:P

I'm not sure Daly is second choice. I expected Gallagher to start today but with Daly remaining in place and a 6-2 split I think Daly is in possession.

    Well it's DeAllende/Farrell, it doesn't matter it's their 2nd game

    Not many pairings match.

Except Aki/T.Farrell and Ringrose/Henshaw, we're blessed in Irish Squad

Haley had the position, Haley is injured.

Haley was back training this week, whether he was available I don't know.

Unless Daly has a mare today I think he'll keep the shirt for Friday. Going forward into 2020/21 fullback is probably the best spot for him as Earls and Conway are immovable from the wing positions.

Unless O'Connor is carrying an injury, i find this strange

If Cronin is fit, he'll be starting next week so he needs some sort of game time.

Serious Jackal ability in that Munster team with Beirne, POM, Cloete and Stander

Cloete has a chance to make the 7 jersey his own for the rest of this season (if tomorrow isn't our last match) with a big performance

Thought we might have made a change in the back three to get minutes into other players

Just a shame we wont see DdA vs Aki

Its just typically if a player is doubtful for a game they will name him in the squad, give him a chance to be fit and then pull him out if he doesn't make it.

It seems odd that they didn't name him and then include him last minute.

Not often you see Stander stripped of the ball.

    Connacht's discipline is killing them.

    Edit: There's the card.

Think Roux gave away three pens in a 90 second stretch.

His knee was clearly down to be fair.

Crazy. Frank Murphy had no option but to give them a team card.

Beirne and Stander may not be the most effective of tight carriers, but there aren't many forwards around who are as good at the breakdown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Another yellow could follow shortly tbh. The penalty count must be 6 or 7 already.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Jesus this is nearly unwatchable from a Connacht point of view.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

What's the penalty count already? Feels like there's been a Munster pen every second minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Another penalty in the next 20 mins and it’s another yellow says Murphy.
    That’s all half now.

He must not be counting scrum pens.

Munster punish 14 men same as against Leinster

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,220 ✭✭✭cameramonkey

Munster have been diving and sealing off their at ruck time but the ref hasn't seen a thing.

Papali’i looks promising but he’s out on his feet already and there has been more stoppages in this game than typical especially with water break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Looks like Cloete never rolled away after making that tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Dear lord I think I just witnessed Murray getting murdered.

Jesus that was a desperate tackle on Murray. Bit early for desperation you'd think

Papali'i has been set up to fail. The mocker gods have only to read the Connacht team thread for more than enough reason...

    The mocker gods strike.
I'm not sure that's a fair call mind...

I don’t think that was a red card, he hit he shoulder

Wasn't sure until that last angle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

    Red is a shame
Murphy's really anti-Connacht as last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,772 ✭✭✭P.Walnuts

    Red all day long

well it does look like he is fine for 20 minutes or so. wrong end of the game though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

He hit Murray so hard he knocked Farrell over.

He didn't have much option based on the camera angles to be fair.

Murphy's made a few incorrect calls, but in general he's been correct. Connacht's discipline his been poor.

I thought the penalty to munster before the red could have gone to connacht.
Other than that, Murphy has been pretty on the ball with his calls. Anyone thinking it's Murphy at fault for connacht's poor ill discipline is deluded. Quinn roux at one stage had 3 penalties in 90 seconds!
