I've been to the pub 8 times since they opened. Not once did they enforce 105 minutes. Three of those times I didn't get a meal. The pubs are effectively open doing table service.

    You’ve been unlucky then.
I went to a very well known gastropub in Cork city centre last week and my group were handed the bill exactly after 105 minutes.
Suppose it’s these more rural pubs that aren’t enforcing the rules.

105 minutes does not apply if 2m social distancing can be maintained. In my local it can so I can sit and have dinner and beers all night

If this is true, and I hope it is, what an amazing job the Irish Govt. have done in keeping us safe and protecting the vulnerable from this.

It would be great if we could get back to normal soon, but not too soon of course. Nobody wants more people to die due to this.

they didn't do an amazing job for those in care homes, sadly.

    That’s fair enough.
I was just making a point to the poster I quoted that the rules are being implemented and it’s not a complete free for all.

The government must be so relieved that people are so stupid.

Hardly anyone putting pressure on them about the continuing outbreaks in meat factories.
Hardly anyone questioning why we didn't do more to keep Covid out of the one place were it is very dangerous - Nursing homes
Hardly anyone pressing them about flights coming in from the US and the fact it is almost optional to isolate.

Instead people are focusing on house parties and recording some teenagers causing trouble.

If only we bothered focusing on the areas actually causing issues.

Both the nursing homes and meat factories are being better managed now with more specific testing in place. Only 2% of cases are related to travel, yet people seem to have a bizarre focus on this. The biggest source of infection is close contacts, which is something that can be managed once identified.

However, the one transmission cause that we seem to be unable to manage, is community transmission. This is the third of cases that not only precede the close contacts but also is the factor that's going to keep the disease spreading.

When you see the scenes in Berlin D2 or Killarney at the weekend, it's not suprising to know that the average range of cases is dropping lower.

In those type pubs it makes sense to turn the table fast if they have demand. 80-90 percent of the spend will occur in that 100 minutes. After that it’s lower margin drinks.

The attitude of people amazes me more and more every day.

Someone in this thread said we did as we were asked during 1st lockdown but not anymore.

Do people think the government are making this up ? Do they think the virus was going to magically disappear after 1st lockdown ?

Now it's a case of I've done my bit now back to normal for me. The guys involve in Golfgate broke regulations so I'm going to do as I like .

Pathetic attitude and if people cannot see that the government / HSE are trying to prevent the winter months becoming uncontrollable with hospital admissions then I despair

The Government lost all credibility when members of Cabinet broke the rules themselves when it suited them.

Was in a restaurant/ pub recently. Private family do less than 20 of us in our own room. Had to swallow a 3 course meal in 90 minutes or whatever. There were 2 pints ordered between everyone all others soft drinks and then out with us. Horrible experience, came out with heartburn, no comfort and not a nice experience for the money spent. Won’t be going again, much rather a take away and bottle of wine at home.

I remember when Emmet stagg was ****ing a rentboy in the phoenix park, I normally wouldn't but because someone in power did it, I felt obligated to do it.

I agree people who make laws should abide by them, and they should be vilified for not doing so, but to give the populous such little respect to say they are of a "monkey see, monkey do" mentality is depressing if it wasn't so demonstrably true.

Pub in clonmel walk in only close doors around 6.30 usually and say they are full. Birthday party yesterday started at 3 pm doors closed at 6 but opened to people that didn't knock but whoever on the inside knew they were just about outside.online pics showed a great party packed tables dancing and toasting shots while hugging. No facemasks all shouting and singing. Still going on at 11.30. Same pub the week before had a lock in and people out the back after 1am. Most pubs allow walk in and bookings it's the ones that are walk in only to watch for. Just take a deposit for bookings if you are following rules

You seem to have forgotten what it was like to be in your early 20s, are you telling me you never went a bit wild on a night out?

No harm was done so there is no need to be so dramatic about the whole thing.

Don't really see the point. For me the pub is all about the craic is mixing and socialising with the whole place.

Can have a good meal, wine and beer with the family at home for a percentage of the price.

So then we all just go back to the way we were before the virus ?

I could then say I'm going to ignore all regulations after seeing the video from Killarney, or the crowds of people on the beach etc

Yes they were wrong in what they did but so were a lot of other people.

No I didn't say that, but lads out with cameras recording young people so the twitter and FB mob can hate on them doesn't sit well with me when we had Ministers, judges and TDs all ignoring the rules and yet we didn't see videos of them all over twitter and FB.

There's no way in hell teams who are winning the local championships are going home straight after the match. Deff booking out pubs for the night to celebrate

The numbers are going up and its not cause of pubs

Were grown adults in this country and the government won't allow you to go for a few pints without been good and having your din dins

Do you know if Gardai approached any of the people in video?
I heard a minister today saying something like "boys will be boys"

6 of us, 3 couples, out for the night for dinner and a rake of pints. It was great craic. It’s different, sure, sitting and getting table service but if the 105 minutes can be avoided it’s still a good night out

Exactly, it’s only enjoyable if the rules are ignored.

I took down the video as this tread did not go as planned, I more so had a problem with the pubs and guards not enforceing the guidance.

You give people enough drink they do stupid things, the video was already on twitter and facebook before any posting here.

I was banned so i did not fallow.

They are the rules. 6 people from 3 households and if 2m social distancing can be maintained (which in my local it can) then the 105 minutes does not apply

IIRC a member of cabinet not members was there. He was told resign or be fired. The next most senior person, Hogan, was forced out of his commisioner role. All three parties condemned it. Compare that to the senior figure in the UK who broke the rules and wouldn't even apologise never mind resign from his position. (Yes not a member of cabinet but very senior role as their set up is differant).

A bit of cop on wouldn't have been too much to ask by the cabinet member and Hogan

Overheard a few young ones earlier saying how sad it will be this Christmas with no 12 pubs.

Thought to myself, it'll still happen, but by God you'll have to put away some amount of food.

It would be some challenge alright.

    Pub 1 - chicken wings
    Pub 2 - burger
    Pub 3 - Pizza
    Pub 4 - toasted special
    Pub 5 - chicken curry
    Pub 6 - club sandwich
Pub 7 - sausages and chips
Pub 8 - scampi and chips
    Pub 9 - spaghetti bolognese
Pub 10 - sausages and mash
    Pub 11 - cottage pie
Pub 12 - Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, roast and mash potatoes, carrots, sprouts and gravy.

I reckon I would have to start the 12 pubs on 1 November.
